Breakfast Topic: Irrational hatreds

I’m always surprised at how some things are almost traditions in World of Warcraft, and the most surprising (to me) is the Mage vs. Warlock hate. Even more so than the Alliance/Horde rivalry and that one’s pretty weird, if you think about it — how deep the divide between players of a video game based entirely on what color the background for their faction is, ultimately. But the Mage vs. Warlock hate seems almost instinctual. I’ve never heard of a mage player who didn’t at the very least look down at the Warlock class, and vice versa. I’ve known individual Mage and Warlock players that liked each other as people, but even then, they usually don’t think much of their class selection.

On paper the two classes are fairly similar – both are cloth wearing ranged DPS who use mana to cast spells. But the devil (literally, in the case of the Warlock) is in the details, and those details usually divide the players. So how about you? Can you think of an irrational hatred you take part in when you play World of Warcraft? The age old paladin vs. warrior debate, or its updated paladin vs. death knight counterpart? Factional pride? PVP vs PVE?
