Breakfast Topic: Sometimes I like to be alone

World of Warcraft is by definition a game that demands a certain level of socialization to get certain content – if you want to run dungeons or raid, you’re going to need to be able to get along with groups of people. Even LFR or random battlegrounds, you queue alone, but you play with people.  So for me, this expansion, I’ve done a lot more alt leveling than I ever did before, because there are times that I just want to be alone – I enjoy playing the game, going to zones, doing quests and not seeing or talking to anyone. It’s strange and antisocial and yet, strangely satisfying.

I don’t know why I feel this way, or why it seems to come and go in cycles – earlier this expansion, for instance, I was entirely focused on max level content, getting my legendary quest items, running LFR and raiding. But right now, for whatever reason, I find myself gravitating to late night play while alone, and I neither know why I switched or why I’ll eventually switch back. But I know I will.

So it’s question time – have you ever found yourself playing an MMO for the single player experience, and does it bother you when you do?
