Breakfast Topic: Those oh-so-satisfying kills
It never ceases to amaze me just how satisfying it can be to land a killing blow against another player or take down an enemy with a bit of style.
I recently noticed myself enjoying these sorts of kills in particular as I gave Chen a try in Heroes of the Storm. You see, Chen has a certain ability called Flying Kick that lends itself to some great takedowns. Flying Kick launches Chen toward the target foot first, dealing damage on impact. In a game where trying to escape your opponent can be crucial, there is something about this sort of self-propulsion that makes landing a killing blow with it even more fun. Trying to run away from me? Haha, nope! Here’s a foot to your face! And it’s not just on the challenging kills I had to work for that I feel like this — every time I got a kill using Flying Kick, I experienced a sort of devilish glee.
This sort of enjoyment doesn’t just come from Heroes of the Storm, though. I remember back when Starcraft II first launched, I would build up a massive fleet of Void Rays and watch as twenty or more lasers slowly grew in power, destroying my enemy’s base in beautiful synchronization. Sometimes, I would create a solo game versus a low-difficulty computer just because I loved how it felt to take out a base with an unstoppable aerial force. Were they hard-earned, well-fought kills? Not necessarily. But that never stopped them from feeling satisfying all the same.
I’ve experienced plenty of these sort of kills in all of Blizzard’s games, but I want to hear from you. What are some of your most satisfying kills across the Blizzard universe and what is it that makes them so satisfying to you?
