The Queue: Jungle nights
Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments and we may choose it for tomorrow’s edition!
I have a question for all of you, now: does Tanaan Jungle have a day/night cycle? What does it look like during the day? I realized I only ever play that content late at night — it’s the only time I have to play at all. Tanaan might be beautiful in the daylight and I’d never know.
Does the Tuskarr fishing net come instead of another device or in addition to existing ones?
It replaces existing ones. I wouldn’t advise using it on particularly difficult shipyard missions that require numerous counters, but you get away with it on missions that only require, for example, two counters in addition to the ship-type counters.
are they SERIOUSLY showing something from the warcraft movie ONLY at the SDCC again? i will riot in the streets if they don’t throw those of us with no way to make it to the con some sort of bone this year.
Unfortunately, when it comes to the film, we’re dealing with Hollywood rules and not gaming industry rules. I’m sure Blizzard would love to show more of the movie to its fanbase, but I’d be willing to bet Blizzard has less money tied up in it than anyone else involved in its production. Comic Cons are where Hollywood shows off its nerdy movies. Probably not Blizzard’s choice whatsoever. And while Blizzard did get to show something off at BlizzCon, it was super locked down — that was almost certainly dictated by the other parties involved in its production.
Do you think Toys should have all their usage requirements removed, so all our characters can use them?
The only restriction I feel makes sense are when Engineering is required. Engineer toys are fun and wacky and hilarious and they’re the whole reason someone takes Engineering. I’m okay with only Engineers being able to shrink themselves and so forth. Level-based restrictions, though? I hate those. Why do my alts need to be level 70 to use the Orb of the Sin’dorei? I’m sure my pro-Engineering argument could bite me in the butt here — you need to be level 70 to get the Orb drop to begin with — but it feels different somehow. It isn’t thematic. You don’t need to make you. You only need the drop. And when you get the drop, you should be able to use it wherever you want.
Favorite Apexis area in Tanaan? I think the ruins with the bird guys is mine. Fast to kill mobs, and lots of corrupted Apexis
I like the Iron Front. It’s a relatively small area with a lot happening within it — and it feels like an active battlefield, we’re actually here fighting a war. Not only are other players fighting, but NPCs from your faction are fighting. There’s artillery fire happening, the clickable doodads are a little more exciting, and so on. The Iron Front is one I do on a regular basis. It feels exciting.
I’m headed to Blizzcon for the first time this year. Any particular tips for a newcomer?
The convention advice I will give anyone and everyone is wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be walking everywhere. You’ll be walking to the convention center, home from the convention center, and all throughout the convention center. Wearing uncomfortable shoes will ruin your ability to do anything after awhile. My other piece of advice for everyone would be don’t go to the BlizzCon store unless you absolutely have to. Consider whether one piece of BlizzCon-exclusive swag is worth wasting 3-4+ hours of BlizzCon’s brief 2 days. I know people who stood in line for an hour, changed their mind about wanting something, but were essentially trapped in line for another couple of hours.
Beyond that, plan out want you want to see and have fun. One of the best parts of BlizzCon is not necessarily the panels, but the parties and the ability to meet people. Be social. Have a blast.
