Overwatch’s new hero Lucio and two new maps revealed
Overwatch‘s Lucio was unveiled this morning at Gamescom along with two new maps of Blizzard’s upcoming shooter. Lucio is precisely what players expected after last week’s teaser: he’s a support hero from Rio who traverses the map on rollerblades, using music to fight his opponents and buff his allies. He seems like a character torn straight out of Jet Set Radio, and just like one could do in Jet Set Radio, Lucio can skate along walls while moving through the map. He has two songs, one for healing and one that provides additional haste to his teammates, and his ultimate ability is Sound Barrier, which applies a shield to all nearby allies.
Numbani and Volskaya were confirmed as new maps, both of which are fictional locations within the world of Overwatch — the former a technologically advanced city in Africa, and the latter an industrial complex in Russia. Numbani is a hybrid Point Capture and Payload map like King’s Row; once you capture the control point, you can access to the payload, which you must escort to the end of the map to secure victory. Volskaya is a straightforward Point Capture map. Both maps were teased in the weeks leading up to Gamescom, so the following tweets from @PlayOverwatch might express the vibe of each map:

And now that we have that out of the way… Lucio, why is your hair so phallic?
