Netflix in talks to revive Gilmore Girls
Netflix might just be taking us back to Stars Hollow.
Look, I was ecstatic when Netflix brought back Arrested Development. Apparently they are either reading my mind, or they just like the same shows I like, because Netflix is reportedly in talks with Warner Bros. and Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino to bring the series back. It won’t be quite what it used to be — four 90-minute movies vs. the original one hour show format, but hey, it’s Gilmore Girls. I’ll take whatever I can get. Original stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are also in on the discussion, along with several additional members of the cast. Whether or not this is going to include Melissa McCarthy is a good question — since her work on the show, her career has taken off big time. But it wouldn’t be the same without Sookie, would it?
If you’ve never seen Gilmore Girls, the entire seven season run is available on Netflix streaming, and it’s absolutely worth the watch. I didn’t think it’d be the kind of show I’d get into — my tastes run more towards sci-fi and fantasy, after all — but not more than three episodes in I found myself completely hooked by the fast-paced dialogue and thoroughly in love with the quirky little Connecticut community. I think I might just have to go binge watch a few seasons myself while waiting for the new material to show up. Hey Netflix, I really miss Quantum Leap, too — any chance you can get that one another run while you’re resurrecting my favorites?
