Scarred Lands Kickstarter now open

I’m an old school pen and paper RPG nerd, have been for years. So I actually owned the original Scarred Lands books when they came out for 3rd Edition D20 under the Open Gaming License, and I have to say they were pretty inventive.

Few games ever give you a chance to play directly after divine wars have reshaped the world, but the Scarred Lands did exactly that, plunging players into Scarn, showing the lands of Ghelspad and Termana, where the Titans made war against the Gods and ultimately fell, but were not destroyed. So when I saw that there’s a new Kickstarter project to get the Scarred Lands updated to both Pathfinder and 5th Edition D&D, I was pretty excited.

The Kickstarter campaign has a lot of options for you, and a good chunk of the old 3e Scarred Lands products available as digital downloads for backers. If you pledge up to $45, you get your choice between the Pathfinder and 5th Edition D&D versions of the Scarred Lands Player’s Guide, as well as the various other rewards for various pledge levels. There are also various stretch goals, including updating more material to both 5th Ed and Pathfinder.

The Scarred Lands were a pretty unique setting for a fantasy role playing game, and I think it’s about time they get a new release. It seems like Kickstarter has become the way for a lot of these smaller RPG projects to get a second life, and if it means more of this in the future, I’m all for that. I’ve been hoping this would happen in some form since 2013.
