Breakfast Topic: When do you game?
Over the years, I’ve found my gaming schedule gradually shifting away from weekdays. At this point, I’m nearly a fully-fledged weekend warrior. I might binge on a game on Saturday — maybe even Friday night — but weekdays are out of the question. There are exceptions (such as our weekly livestream) but, speaking generally, I’m lucky if I can manage a full hour of gaming Monday through Thursday.
My time limitations, I think, are why I lean on Heroes of the Storm these days. While I certainly do play WoW — I’d still consider it my main game — I tend to only log in if I know I have a few hours free. If I know I only have 30-45 minutes, I can open up Heroes and knock out a quick match in that time. In WoW, it’s questionable whether I can get anything done at all — and highly possible I’ll get so wrapped up in what I’m doing, I’ll end up playing much longer than I should. WoW is also the game I play solo very late at night. I’ve had some form of insomnia my entire life; WoW is a relaxing thing to do when it’s 3 a.m. and nothing else has helped me sleep. As a result, many of the screenshots I use here on the site — including the one at the top of this very post — are nighttime shots. I simply don’t log into WoW when the in-game sun is up.
On the other hand, I know people who have gaming tendencies completely opposite my own. After getting home from work on a weekday, they’ll play WoW for a couple of hours to wind down. When the weekend comes around, they have more free time available and would rather use it on things other than games. I pose this question to you on this Sunday morning: when do you game? Does your limited free time clamp down on your gaming? Are you a weekday player or do you stick to weekends? Does your time availability dictate what you play?
