Breakfast Topic: Is it time for Azeroth to rebuild?

After multiple decades of constant threats to Azeroth’s very existence, I think there comes a point its denizens — Horde and Alliance — must realize they’re fighting for ruins. With every major threat, the state of Azeroth gets a little worse. Even in Mists of Pandaria, the expansion which was supposed to be our vacation from world-ending threats, idyllic locations found themselves rendered into hives of destruction. Is it time to rebuild?

Granted, the denizens of Azeroth don’t get a choice in whether or not there’s another threat on the horizon, but would we, the players, enjoy an expansion of relative peace?

I’m not proposing a World of Warcraft expansion with no combat, of course. That would be silly. However, I think I would enjoy an expansion which could be viewed as an “eye of the storm” relative to what we’ve been facing so far. Our great threat wouldn’t be a dragon or an Old God or anything like that — our threat would be the numerous evils which have moved into all of the lands and locations we’ve lost over the years or ignored while we were distracted. While we’re pushing those baddies back, we reclaim what we’ve lost, rebuild the ruins, and put out those fires which’ve been burning since Cataclysm. And hey, while I’d love player housing to be a part of this rebuilding process, I think we already know the Blizzard devs aren’t down with that.

Personally, I wouldn’t even mind if there were few or zero new zones included in an expansion of rebuilding and reclamation. I can already hear many players (and probably the developers) groaning at the prospect of revisiting the old world Cataclysm style, but I’ll be honest: we’ve faced so many apocalyptic threats, they’re a little dull. And not very threatening.

Would you enjoy an expansion of rebuilding? Which locations would you like to revisit? Which old friends would you like to see again? Are you on Team Housing? Or do you find this whole idea terribly dull and much prefer your apocalypse scenarios?
