The Queue: Therizinosaurus

Also known as Therizinosaurus cheloniformis this species is one of the most fascinating and unique of the known dinosaurs. The name means reaping lizard or scythe lizard and much like the other members of its family, it was likely either a heavily herbivorous omnivore or an outright herbivore. Therizinosaurus was the largest (to date) of its family, and possessed six foot long claws on its forelimbs. It walked upright on two legs like other theropods but presented a more rearing posture in order to make use of those massive claws (they far exceeded its smallish head in size).

This has nothing to do with Blizzard or its games. I just love dinosaurs. Anyway, let’s talk about those games. Or dinosaurs. Hey, Blizz, put a dinosaur into Overwatch. Preferably one with power armor. I also like power armor.

Q4TQ: Has there been any mention of how crafted items will be added to the transmog database in Legion? Without knowing much about how many upgrades and recolors crafted gear will have (if it’s like WoD), I *really* hope that we don’t have to remake each recolor or model in order to add it. Same goes for things like the ‘reborn’ blacksmithing weapons from MoP.

As of right now, it’s not something I can definitively answer, since I can’t transfer my character with the original Lionheart Executioner onto the Alpha servers. I don’t know if having that sword means I automatically know the Lionheart Blade and Lionheart Champion as well. I’m using this as an example of a crafted item that goes through model changes, because it’s one I could most easily test (since I have the item), but there are a variety (the BC blacksmithing items that came back in Mists of Pandaria for example) and I don’t know how this will be handled.

But I do know that, in the case of tier sets that doe a similar model transformation, once you’ve gotten one of the set pieces (say Tier 10 Warrior Helm) you keep it in the wardrobe even when you update the item with a tier token (say, Ymirjar Lord to Sanctified, then to Heroic Sanctified) so as soon as you have that first item, it’s forever unlocked and you don’t need to keep it. Hopefully the Wardrobe will be smart enough to do this for crafted items.

OPAUG

How do you determine who will be your main? Your gear? Transmog? Reputations you earned? I’ve switched mains so many times, the first work of order is maxing my professions and then working on the current expansion reputations. Gear is kind of secondary for me, but still a point of emphasis.

Step One — Is It A Warrior?

If yes, then on to step two.

Step Two — Do I play it more than any of my other Warriors?

If yes, congratulations, it’s my main.

Other people do this other ways, but that’s seriously how I do it. I have like six warriors in some stage of play right now (plus the leveling stream DK) and right now my main is likely the level 108 Warrior I have on the Alpha, because I play that one the most.

On live servers I have two Draenei Warriors, max level, same rough gear levels, and I play them both about the same, so I honestly don’t know which one I’d consider my main. Sadly, due to so many Horde quests just not working for me, my Tauren is essentially retired. In the past he was a contender for main status, I even raided on him.

Q4tQ:  What do you think would make Archaeology more fun?  I feel like it needs some instanced content i.e. scenarios, jump puzzles, minibosses, etc.  Something a little more “Last Crusade” than what we currently have.

I am completely serious when I say that having random monsters explode from the ground and attack you for despoiling their eternal rest in your greed for relics would be cool.

I’d like it if there was an Archaeology dungeon, a place which you could unlock via Archaeology and it was just a mindless random Diablo style monster haunted ruin to plunder for loot… I mean, historical artifacts. Which would totally go into a museum. (After they paid me for them.)

Archaeology quests that send you to various important historical regions to, again, fight monsters.

In other words, I think Archaeology is boring because it’s not active. It’s too passive for World of Warcraft — you don’t do enough, you just go dig stuff up. Digging stuff up should be the beginning. There’s a reason Indiana Jones fought a lot of Nazis in his movies instead of actually doing much real archaeology.

A LOT OF YOU

Something something Stardew Valley

I have no idea what Stardew Valley is. Here’s a picture of a Therizinosaurus.

I love how absolutely bizarre this creature looks.

Oh, and I’m not talking about the chicken with dinosaur legs thing for two reasons. One, it’s not actually new — people have been experimenting along that line for years. Two, it’s no more notable than if they prevented the genes in a human from expressing properly and created a deformed baby human with the legs of an Australopithecus.

You haven’t recreated a dinosaur — a chicken is already a dinosaur. It’s legs are already dinosaur legs. All you’ve done is mutate a chicken. It’s an interesting experiment in terms of what else you could do with the procedure, but it’s not what it’s being presented as in the popular media. Chickens can’t get more dinosaur like than they already are.

QtfQ: Are there ever occasions for the Queue staff where somebody will have an urge to yell: “ZIEEEEEEBART!” or “HOLISSSSSSKY!” or “HAAAAAARPER!” or “STICKNEEEEEY!” or “ROOOOOOSSI!”

I dunno, just imagining it.

Only when we say Taruu and become the Infinity Man.

CRUSADER FRASCH
Queue for the Queue: Tagging into the last question on Flexible Zones, any idea what happens when you come down on a mob a friend is fighting when you’re not grouped? Like, you’re 107 and going back through a zone to gather, then come across someone you know leveling and they’re 103 fighting a 103. Is the mob still scaled to 107 for you? My small guild and I historically don’t always group when starting a new expansion, but will cross paths while doing our own things.

As of two days ago (last time I could get onto the Alpha) it doesn’t really care if you’re in a party with someone or not. They see the mob at their approximate level, you see it at yours. So if a mob is suppose to be 2 levels above you, and you’re level 108, you see it at level 110, and your level 102 friend sees it at 104. All the damage and health scales, so if you both had your health bars turned to percentages you would see the exact same amount of damage inflicted on said mob.

It’s all very fluid. I stopped and helped a guy kill a mob that conned 107 to me, and 101 to him, while doing Stormheim. All very quick and easy, I didn’t even notice it until after.

Okay, that’s the Queue for today. I’m sorry I don’t know anything about Stardew Valley.
