Tracer’s ability spotlight Heroes video shows off a mobile menace

Overwatch favorite Tracer makes her debut in Heroes of the Storm this Tuesday (see this post for her complicated roll out schedule.) We’ve already seen a list of her abilities as well as a few clips of her in action. Now we finally get a look at her whole kit working together in her official ability preview video. And I’m scared. Very, very scared.

She is designed to be a high skill cap character and those with the twitch skills to master her are going to be the proverbial thorn in the side of just about any hero that doesn’t have an insta-cast stun to lock her down. Just watch the end of the video where she merrily darts around Leoric, flits away from Sonya, and easily dodges Li-Ming’s missles. Yes, it will take practice and high dexterity to pull off those kinds of flashy moves, but there will be players who will do just that.

Then there’s her Recall (E) ability which not only will instantly get her out of almost any Heroic trap or incoming AOE by teleporting her to her location a few seconds earlier in the game, but will also remove almost all detrimental effects that have been applied to her and reloads her ammo. How is that not her Heroic?

I’m not saying Tracer’s overpowered. I think her kit is balanced by one of her abilities requiring melee range and the fact that she will be very difficult to master. I guarantee you will see most players fumbling around with her by blinking into trouble more often than blinking out of it. But for those that do master her, she will be devastating. And we haven’t even seen her talents yet.
