The Queue: Focus looking forward the Colosseum
It’s Tuesday, who’s ready for a Queue?
QftQ: If Blood Elves and Forsaken became more tribal, what kind of tribes would you like to see?
I’m not entirely sure what your definition of “tribal” is, so I’m leaning toward off-shoots of those races akin to the different Troll varieties. For the Forsaken, we’d have to stretch the lore a little bit, since it’s not like a branch of Forsaken could just pop up on their own without first going through the “orientation” process that Sylvanas usually has them go through. In other words, they’d have to be standard Forsaken who migrated away from the usual branch — and I don’t think Sylvanas would take kindly to it.
Anyhow, it would be cool to see Forsaken who did migrate away and wound up worshiping some deity or another. Blood Forsaken (kinda like Blood Trolls), a branch of Forsaken that embraced nature (to varying success), or even uh… cave Forsaken? I’m picturing something like the Pale from Draenor. All of those would be interesting to see variants of.
As for Blood Elves? Umm… Forest Elves? I’ll be honest, I’m blanking a bit on this question. We have a lot of Elves as it is, and we’ve seen Blood Elves turn into Wretched, so anything non-Wretched would have to find a powerful enough source of magic to survive.
Q4tQ Hey Anne, whatever happened to the Bioware podcast? My wife and I are huge fans of Dragon Age Inquisition and would love to hear your thoughts about a certain bald elf.
The Bioware podcast was part of the Tavern sister site we tried for a while. I wasn’t part of leads during that particular time, but I imagine it was not financially viable. (You’ll find most things boil down to finances.) Anyhow, the Tavern was shut down and the podcast along with it. On top of that, it was just generally hard to find the time to dedicate to all that (especially on my end where I was playing through the games).
So … I got an Alpha invite for BfA Friday (yay!), thought alpha invites were for a little more exclusive category of player than myself, but I’m not complaing. Anyway, I’ve been doing my due diligence, reporting bugs when I see ’em, but truth be told I’m rather new to the experience. The betas I’ve participted in were practically ready for launch by the time I got in them. So, for those in the know, any tips or advice for what I should be looking for or what kinda things Blizz looks for feedback on?
To be honest, Blizzard will take any sort of feedback you have. Typos (there was a dedicated thread for this at some point during Legion’s testing), how a quest “felt” (drop rates, emotions, lore-wise, etc.), if a zone’s flow worked or if anything felt like it was zig-zaggy, and so on. Also bugs. Always bugs.
There’s actually something in one of the recent builds that allows you to click a button and provide feedback or report bugs. It’s suuuuuper nice and something I’ve been hoping to see return ever since something similar was used in the Wrath beta. Really, it’s up to you how much you want to contribute. If you have an overly positive experience, that’s still worthwhile — but if you only want to report the negatives (for your own sanity), that’s fine too. Just write down how you felt about what you did.
Q4tQ: what do you think of vultures? Not in the real world, I’m talking about in game people who shadow you; waiting for you to pull the mobs surrounding a quest objective so they can snick it out from underneath you. Leaving you to stand there like a moron, waiting for the objective to respawn. WoW’s design has been heading in a direction that circumvents this behavior, but it still pops up regularly in online gaming.
My initial, gut response was something that I’m not allowed to say here. But those people are jerks. They should work with you, at the very least. I’ve admittedly had this happen before where I didn’t mean to tag something someone was clearly waiting for, and I’ve stuck around to help them when it respawns.
But as you said, most of these events don’t exist thanks to faction tagging. I suppose if you really want to play up the “faction conflict” on a PVP server or roleplay someone who is generally a jerk on an SP server then… I guess? There are other ways to be a jerk that don’t involve stealing mobs, though.
QftQ: Why do people in Azeroth hate doors? Most of the ones in the game are Real Fake Doors. I mean… it would at least slow down the raptors.
This is something I’ve pointed out before, but I imagine it’s to fool enemies. It’s a sort-of Scooby Doo situation where you run through one of eight doors and the bad guy doesn’t know which you went through. Except instead of a weird door montage, only one of them opens.
That or there’s an architect out there who hates their life and never wanted this job, so they get revenge on the world in a passive-aggressive fashion by screwing with people who are looking to just go through a door.
At my job, whenever we hire new people onto the team, we always get a brief synopsis of that person, like those short author blurbs on the back of a book. I realised that when I came on board with the client management team, they didn’t have this in place, so no one ever did a synopsis of me.
So Q4tQ: what would be yours or your main alt’s introduction/synopsis/blurb? No more than five sentences long.
I decided to do this for my mage:
Qiuxiang is a frost mage who joined the Kirin Tor shortly before the fall of the Lich King. She is currently supporting the Army of the Light in taking back Argus. Qiuxiang is an avid reader. When not killing demons, Qiuxiang will spend her time standing up for Gnome Rights, or traveling Azeroth to learn about the various cultures and visit scenic sights.
Fizzl is a Forsaken from the early days of their inception. He’s lived — and died, and lived again — through a time when Sons of Arugal roamed and Val’kyr were not a thing. He knows no Light, and he gleefully utilizes the Void to strengthen himself and take down his enemies without mercy. He’s someone you want on your side, and certainly not someone to make enemies with. Either way, though, he may be the one standing over you as you fall.
It’s probably been asked before but do we know if Zandalari druids will be able to mog artefacts form?
Short answer: We do not.
Longer answer: I imagine they’ll be able to — since Blizzard has emphasized the importance of getting certain appearances before the expansion ends — but I have almost no doubt that they will not be special versions of the Zandalari forms. Which feels a bit odd, given how different the Zandalari forms are from the Artifact forms. Actually, I can see Blizzard using their uniqueness as a way of justifying not letting them use the Artifact forms from Legion. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see.
Q4tQ: Do you think new race/class combos (both Allied Races and the standard races) could be expanded upon, with the premise that they are the minions the Archmage/Deathlord/High Priest etc created in Legion (so new starting area as their base, start at 100, only create one per week, etc)?
(edit: to clarify, you could only create one of these new 100 alts per week, not that Blizzard will make one available every week)
2BE: Lich King Arthas vs Korfax
I don’t think Blizzard would take that approach, primarily because most of the classes don’t create minions of any kind — they have an existing Order, and they recruit from that Order. Plus, it would make things all wibbly wobbly if those players ever decided to quest through Legion and become the same champion that recruited them. But gameplay-wise, I don’t think Blizzard would ever use a once-per-week approach when it came to class creation. Maybe once per server or once per account, but not once per week.
2BE: Korfax. Because he is Korfax.
I was going to be nice to Liz this week, but last week, she mentioned harassing me in her weekly Watching Blizzard roundup, so now I have no sympathy. DESTROY, MINIONS!
