The Queue: Sunnyland
By this time tomorrow, I will be in (or at least very close to) California. Even if the sum total of BlizzCon announcements this year are shrug-worthy, this is still the trip I look forward to every year — from the moment it ends right up until the next one. For those of you watching at home, I encourage you to make A Thing out of it with your fellow Queuemans. Grab popcorn/unhealthy food, drink of choice, and just spend the whole time chatting and enjoying the fact that you can nerd out with friends. For those of you attending in person… I hope to see you soon!
Now, let’s Queue.
Vox did an analysis on the most popular Halloween monsters based on movie income on the subject matter over the last 20 years.
1) Vampires
2) Demons
3) Ghosts
4) Zombies
5) Witches
6) Mummies
7) Werewolves
Do you agree/disagree with the list?
I’m surprised to see werewolves lower than mummies on the list. I’m also curious if zombies would be higher if we took into account only the last 10 years. The rest checks out, if you ask me.
2BE: Avatar of Sargeras vs Bul-Kathos
I’m not Rossi, so Avatar wins no contest.
Q4tQ: I only get one question today, so I better make it good. Is tomorrow the Mitch queue?
Yes, it is.
So I imagine many of this week’s questions will be related to blizzcon predictions and/or expectations. Or maybe that will just be me.
Anyway, Q4tQ, Blizzcon speculation/Prediction: Will the war campaign continue for 8.2? For the rest of BFA? Will it always be “red vs blue?” Will it be a vehicle to tell the story of a mechanical faction alteration of some kind? All of the above? None of the above? Some of the above? Basically what is the future for the war campaign as a feature in BFA?
I definitely think the war campaign will continue in patch 8.2, and not just because I’ve looked at some of the datamining for patch 8.1. To be honest, I kind of hope Blizzard keeps the faction war thing going beyond Battle for Azeroth. It’s one of the few through lines that can transcend actual expansion themes, and it’s frustrating to see it pop up one expansion, only to disappear later, only to reappear later on when Blizz needs it.
Keep it in the background. Don’t solve the conflict. Let us deal with Big Bads while we also deal with each other. Maybe people hate the conflict, but it would still be more believable this way than popping up randomly.
Q4tQ: who should be the next alt to level to 120?
Gnome BM-hunter.
Human prot-pally.
Voidy aff-lock.
These are all Alliance races. Therefore, none of them. (But go with the Void Elf if you have to.)
Have you ever applied for a job that you thought was a long shot, got an interview, and now you’re trying not to panic because if you actually got it it might be terrible? I mean, it might be awesome, but you might also spectacularly blow it?
Because I’m there right now.
Hey, guess what? Sometimes, this happens. And yeah, people definitely worry about this happening. But if it does, you don’t have to stay! Obviously, be responsible with backup plans, but don’t also feel obligated to stay in a position that makes you unhappy.
You got this!
The lack of a broom mount from Drustvar IS pretty galling.
Heck, did we ever even see a witch riding a broom in that zone? It looks like Blizzard didn’t even add any Hollow’s End effects there. Talk about a missed opportunity.
What’s weird is that Boralus (and probably Zuldazar?) have Hallow’s End decoration on the patch 8.1 PTR. Even if that weren’t true (and super confusing…), Drustvar is a total missed opportunity to revamp the holiday. Yeah, it would be tough to dedicate time to a revamp when the expansion is so new but… come on, Blizz.
Yesterday I unlocked Mag’har orcs. I have a major lore question about them as an allied race: Why?
The story is that we have to do a lot of work to get back to AU Draenor. Not sure why, but ok. After we do this, we approach them and say, “We saved your butt from a major threat to your planet, Archimonde. Now it’s time you returned the favor.” What is the major threat? The alliance?
Obviously there’ll be more major stuff in this xpac. Azshara and N’zoth. But we know that from an outside, player perspective. The people in the game are just hanging out in Zandalar, boating over to Kul Tiras to do some stuff. But nothing MAJOR that requires traveling through time and space to recruit more orcs, and compare it to the attack from Archimonde. It’s the driving point for this story…that makes no sense at this point in the BfA story.
Eh, I can buy the “let’s boost our forces in whatever way we can” thing. Bringing allies into the Horde and Alliance is why we got the original four Allied Races. Plus, it’s just generally a good move.
That said, the reason is because Blizzard wanted to give us more customization options for Orcs but still wanted it to tie into the story. Voila! Mag’har Orcs.
That’s The Queue! Happy BlizzCon week, folks.
