The Queue: Give me reason to prove me wrong, to wash this memory clean
Finally got the legendary memory off of Stone Generals, and a cape, so that was good. Unfortunately I upgraded the legendary I had and so I don’t have the soul ash to make a new legendary, but I can run Torghast and get that out of the way at least. Yay for Signet of Tormented Kings. Boo for missing so many raid nights that this was the first time I killed those two.
Anyway, just Denathrius next, and that’s exciting, hopefully we kill him this week.
This is the Queue. Let’s talk about stuff.
Question for any/all Queue/Podcasts – Since we have Mind Control and Control Undead with Priests, we’ve seen the Dominion power from the Jailer/Revendreth, and I have D&D on the mind (pun intended), if WoW was to have a new class, what do you think about a Psionic/Psychic class styled after the Shaman Spec split? Psyblade for melee, and psionic spell caster class for DPS, and a Psionic Healer? Or should I just forget about it and pay it no mind?
See, I think this is exactly where the Priest class, or at least the Discipline spec of that class, was heading. Power Word Kill is basically just a straightforward telepathic attack, Priest bubbles are telekinetic shields, Mind Control is exactly that. It’s not where the class ended up, but I definitely think Priests were intended to have a bit of that psionic flair to them when they were designed.
I don’t expect we’ll get the Psion as a class in WoW, but I wouldn’t mind if we did, either. We have three clothies, four leather wearers, two mail wearing classes and three plate classes, so if they did decide to introduce a Psion class, I’d like to see it go either mail or cloth — going mail would bring mail up to parity with plate and cloth, while going cloth would bring cloth up to parity with leather. I’d probably prefer mail, because it’s weird we only have two mail classes.
Q4tQ: Sliced pickles on top of a BBQ sandwich: yay or nay?
Nay.
Hm. World boss drops Paladin memories. Paladin is at 59. At some point this week I suspect I’m going to have to try to tank that thing, and I’m not sure how I feel about it.
I mean, I just queue up with the Group Finder as DPS, nobody ever checks my gear or anything, and he’s dead. If you want to tank it, go ahead, but I really think you’d be fine to show up and DPS.
Q4tQ:
When is the proper time to start sucking down Cadbury cream eggs? Is now too soon?
I’m not your mom. Do what you want. Put pickles on your sandwich if you want, as wrong as that feels. Eat all the Cadbury eggs. Life is short and often painful, wring whatever joy you can out of it.
But seriously just no on the pickle thing.
Q4tQ: do you think WoW needs more bands?
I was thinking about how “cinnamon dreams” sounds like a girl group from the 90s when I realized that ETC and Blight Boar are the only bands in Azeroth we know of. I feel like there should be more. With so many different cultures across the world, how come there’s only two bands? At the very least, there’s no way gnomes and dwarves haven’t made some crazy music together.
You have a weird spelling of the word dinosaur.
I mean, yes, I do think WoW needs more dinosaurs, and a whole host of other prehistoric animals like mosasaurs or therapsids, absolutely.
All jokes aside, I wouldn’t mind if they added more bands but I also wouldn’t really care if they didn’t. I mean, music is cool, I like music, but seeing it performed in game? Not as important as any dinosaur or other prehistoric animals they could add.
What kind of workflow do y’all use during Blizzcon to keep everything in order? What is the experience like as a writer who both enjoys the experience and has to parse it out for others?
We have what we call breakouts — small, digestible portions of the various panels that we focus on and do a short 300 or so word post on. These are usually put up for grabs by an editor, and then once someone claims them and writes them, one of the editors grabs the post and gets it ready and puts it up on the site. Then the writer goes looking for another post to write. I was assigned to the Diablo panels this year, which is why most but not all of my posts were on Diablo games — I was the one pulling the breakouts while watching the panels alongside Anna W. which is why we did so many Diablo posts.
Calling it order feels a bit much, but it’s definitely what we we use to make sure we get coverage up on the site.
No reason, I just really like this pose. SMF vs. TG Fury is turning into the biggest heartbreaker I’ve experienced this expansion, I can’t decide between them.
I’m still grossed out by the idea of pickles on a sandwich. Just ugh.
