The Queue: I’ve got it made in the shade
We may not have Rhinestone Sunglasses, but my new pal “Gubbins” and I have pretty fetching parasols, don’t you think?
While we try and figure out where Theotar’s went, it’s time for — The Queue.
Q4tQ Which of the covenant leaders would make the best addition to HotS?
Well after I saw this fan-made concept for Sire Denathrius in the Nexus he’s all I could think about. Especially that Baseball skin in the first picture. What a fantastic idea, and I hope that someday it becomes a reality.
The rest of the Covenant leaders are a little trickier. The Archon from Bastion would be yet another angel-like figure so she’d have to make a strong case for how she’s different from Tyrael, Imperius, and Auriel. The Primus in Maldraxxus has been MIA for this whole expansion so far — so who even knows what his deal would be. Gross Maldraxxus rune stuff, or maybe he could command various forces to buff his spells. The Winter Queen might be interesting if she did a bunch of frosty Druid abilities. Like a combination of Malfurion and Jaina.
But they’re all no Sire Denathrius. All of his abilities are so great looking and striking. The red color of Revendreth Anima might not stand out so well in Castle Nathria, but in Dragon Shire, it would be impossible to miss.
EarlyQforCory: If you could have any WoW text-only short story be an animated short, which one would it be?
I think that Over Water by Ryan Quinn would make for a great watch. It’s got it all, Pandaren, fishing, stories within stories, giant sea monsters being wrestled with — what more do you want? I don’t know how short it would end up being though, maybe a series of shorts.
I really miss hanging out with the Pandarens and their storytelling. We should keep bringing them along with us into each new expansion and having them do recaps after each patch. But they’re more the gist of what happened with many artistic licenses being taken.
I would enjoy more instanced content that doesn’t require strict group compositions, like Horrific Visions. I guess Torghast is kind of like that? But Torghast is something you do once a week and forget, because the devs forgot to give it rewards -_-
But the issue with tanking and healing will always be that they’re less fun than DPS. Every time I play Overwatch I think about how much more fun healing is than in WoW.
I really like tanking and I really liked healing when I was a main spec Holy Paladin. Doing damage is fine, but in a game like World of Warcraft, I don’t feel like you make the big plays as often. Sure you can have a giant cooldown go brrrr like Convoke, but as a Tank, I am the guy standing in the way of the giant monster and making sure my friends stay alive. That clutch play when I survive through the hits that a lesser tank would crumble at that’s why I really like it.
The problem with creating content that doesn’t have the strict compositions is that even when there isn’t a strict you need to have x/y/z, players have been so conditioned into the trinity of tank/heal/damage that they’re usually just going to wind up doing that anyway. I know that I always tanked in Horrific Visions, and ran the Mists of Pandaria scenarios in tank spec. It’s what I’m most comfortable as, and Bears can put out a bunch of damage when they want to.
If you’re falling asleep and you really wanna stay awake, what do you do?
P.S. Not accepting “Sleep” as an answer
Drink more coffee.
another serious QftQ: I don’t know how many people see them, but the items you pick up for turning into the BMAH in Revendreth – how many quest items can you carry at a time? Is it only the one and you can’t get any more until you turn that one in? Or is it just luck anyway?
I’ve only ever had one of those items at once. I’d bet that they’re limited to only one at a time so that you don’t just stockpile them and make the trip out once a week. They wouldn’t work very well as a breadcrumb in that case. It’s nice having a reason to go see what’s on sale sometimes. Even if I’ll never buy anything, I’m always curious to see how much people are paying for the various mounts and rare items on it.
Q4tQ: what monsters/animals/whatever in WoW would you like to see more of? I know there’s a ridiculous number of them, but it feels like some of the coolest creatures hardly get any time in the spotlight.
I’d like to see more of the “not beholder” demons, like Broggok. The design is cool but it feels like they only show up when there’s scrying to be done. And I’ve wanted one as a mount since BC.
Gnolls!
This is probably just the aftereffect of playing a bunch of Hogger games in Heroes of the Storm, but I’ve fallen in love with those mangy fleabags. Let’s go visit the Gnoll section of the Shadowlands and see what sort of afterlife they’ve got going on. There’s something so charming about them. Maybe it’s just the laugh. I’m a sucker for a good laugh.
