Q4TQ: who do you think are the top 3 most fun to play HSBG heroes?
Mine would probably be:
Jandice Barov
Dancin’ Deryl
Millhouse Manastorm
I think the most fun heroes are the ones that require you to play something other than just the same old game. I.e. buy the most powerful minion you can get on turn 1, upgrade on turn 2, buy a minion and use your hero power on turn 3…. After a while, Battlegrounds can start to feel pretty same-y. You’re playing the same basic strategy every game. It gets kind of bland. So I enjoy heroes that encourage you to go off-book to win.
Dancin’ Deryl, because setting up the dance adds an interesting and unusual dimension to gameplay. It’s a completely different game, all about the crazy minion shuffle. I’m not good at playing Deryl, but it’s fun to pull it off.
Captain Hooktusk is one of quite a few heroes who provide you with a semi-random minion. I like Hooktusk in particular because of the discover-esque mechanic that lets you choose between minions. Instead of selling a minion for a puny one gold, you can trade it for another… maybe one with a useful battlecry. It’s a different kind of minion shuffle than Deryl’s.
Yogg-Saron, because I just love the chaos strategy that Yogg and the other Old Gods embody. Who knows what kind of strategy you’ll use — if any. You’re just going to get a lot of random, more powerful minions. Anything could happen. In general my strategy is that if an Old God is a hero option, choose the Old God, but Yogg is my favorite — also the hero I have the most wins with, so I guess I kind of mesh with forces of chaos.
Q4TQ: What are you looking forward to in the Wailing Caverns Hearthstone mini-set? What things do you expect to become cards from the dungeon?
I’m neither here nor there on Wailing Caverns because I’m kind of meh on constructed modes right now. Thinking about deck building just makes me tired right now. It doesn’t sound like fun, it sounds like a chore. I think that’s more me than the game — deck-building, particularly good deck-building, just feels complicated. I have gold and dust so I could really make anything I wanted, but I haven’t felt like it.
But also I have the gold to buy the mini-set (2k), so I’m going to get it regardless. And there’s a new legendary murloc! And a 7-mana murloc has to be a pretty amazing murloc, right? Murloc decks just feel so dumb, and I love them for it. So I am very curious as to our new murloc.
If you had to live on Outland, which zone would you call home and why?
I’d live on one of the floating islands above Nagrand, one of them with a waterfall. I’d have a great view and I’d never get bothered by door-to-door salesmen. Very peaceful.
Are you looking forward more to Diablo 2 Remastered, Diablo 4, or Diablo Immortal?
Tough question, but I think the answer is Diablo Immortal. Gameplay wise, it looks to play a lot like Diablo 3, which is perfectly fine in my book. (Though I think it would be improved by controller support, which is not guaranteed at launch.) But I’m really interested in the stories the game has to tell. We know little to nothing of what happened between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, and Immortal is supposed to fill in some of those gaps.
Are you looking forward to the Sanctum of Domination raid?
I am looking forward to something new. My guild just killed Sire Denathrius on heroic after something like 250 pulls, so I am just interested in anything new. I still think we’re a month away from a patch, so new will still be a fairly long time coming. Bleh.
That’s all for today. I am very tired, so this is all we have. I hope everyone has a lovely Friday and a relaxing weekend. Remember to pet your pets and tell your loved ones that you love them. Monday will be here too soon, so enjoy the weekend while you can. I’ll see you next week.
