What February game release are you most excited for?

On Friday, the oft-delayed Dying Light 2 will be released, starting off a month of big releases that frankly boggles the mind — even with the Saints Row reboot being delayed until August. Whatever your favorite genre, there is likely something for you for to purchase and play this month.

If your main game is an MMO, there’s a lot to look forward to. Guild Wars 2 is releasing End of Dragons on the last day of the month, and Star Wars: the Old Republic has scheduled the release of the Legacy of the Sith expansion on the 15th. Of course we’d be remiss not to mention that World of Warcraft Shadowlands patch 9.2 has a solid chance to release this month, although it’s not guaranteed at this point.

RPG fans are in for a treat, with probably the biggest game on most people’s radar being Horizon: Forbidden West, arriving as a Playstation exclusive on February 18. The sequel to the hit Horizon: Zero Dawn looks promising as it continues the story of Aloy, and is likely a Day 1 purchase for me. Of course, if you don’t have a PlayStation 4 or 5, you’ll have to wait until it is eventually released on PC — but with no announced date for it I’ll be dusting my PS4 off.

For RPG players without a PlayStation, another title to look forward to is Elden Ring, releasing on the 25th on all platforms except for the Switch. It’s a creative collaboration including Hidetaka Miyazaki — the creator of the Dark Souls franchise — and George R.R. Martin, best known for the Game of Thrones HBO show and the books that inspired it. The story pedigree is extremely strong, so here’s hoping the open-world gameplay and skill system are designed well to keep up with it.

There are other games coming out this month — including other RPGs like the tactical RPG Monark — but there’s only so many I can play so the above games are what I’m focused on. What about you, are you keeping an eye on these games too, or are you looking forward to something else, like King of Fighters XV or Dynasty Warriors 9? Or is all your time this month going to be spent skateboarding in OlliOlli World?
