Enjoy Echoing Nightmares forever (and more!) as Diablo 3 celebrates its 10th anniversary

Usually the sentence, “enjoy Echoing Nightmares forever,” would seem kind of ominous, and well, it still does, because it’s Diablo 3’s 10th Anniversary, and in celebration we’re getting the popular Echoing Nightmares mode from Season 26 added permanently to the game. And more besides!

If you remember the big Darkening of Tristram event that celebrated the 20th anniversary of the original Diablo, or Season 25’s celebration of the entire franchise turning 25, you have the basic idea of what we’re seeing here — a tribute not only to Diablo 3 being 10 years old, but to all of us who have rampaged across Sanctuary smashing demons who have kept the game in constant development for the past decade.

We’re getting some presents as a reward for all those long, gory years of demon crushing? Sounds good to me. So what are we hauling for D3‘s 10th Birthday?

First off, we’ll be getting the permanent addition of the popular Echoing Nightmares mode. This mode — which encapsulates a constantly ramping up of difficulty in a similar but distinct gameplay to Greater Rifts — seems tailor made to address the concerns of players who were wondering if the GR limit was going to be expanded in the future. Essentially, with the addition of a permanent Echoing Nightmares mode, you no longer really need to bump up the cap on GR difficulty. If you’re getting to the point where even the GR 150 difficulty isn’t enough for you, run the GRs for Petrified Screams, and run Echoing Nightmares for the constantly escalating difficulty.

But that’s not all — there will also be a mid-season Double Bounty event from May 12 until the end of Season 26. This means that simply put, completing a complete Act’s Bounties will reward twice as many Horadric Caches for the difficulty level you’re playing on. So now is a good time to start farming those Bounties if you’re looking for a Bounty-specific Legendary, or to gather crafting materials from the Horadric Cache at the end of a specific Act.

So there you have it — Diablo 3 is 10 years old, and as a reward, Echoing Nightmares will now last forever.

Nope, still sounds pretty foreboding. But also exciting! Yay for conflicting emotions to fuel my demon-smashing fury!
