The Queue: Why am I always tired?
Somehow every time the Queue comes around, I am exhausted and need at least ten naps. Today is no different, so let’s get this show on the road so I can get to work on nap #1.
Q4tQ: rock, paper, or scissors?
As a writer, I am obligated to pick paper.
Rock. Sturdy, steady rock, ready to crush your enemies. Rock is the power of the game, and even though paper supposedly beats rock, it will win out in the end, enduring as paper crumbles away with age. Rock always wins in the end.
Question for BW: How do you feel about Season 4 one week in? There’s been a lot of talk about this being a passion project by a very small team. Did Blizzard screw up by releasing this? Would we have been better just sitting in S3 until Dragonflight? It feels like people, at least at release, would have rather stayed in S3.
I’ve actually been pretty excited about Season 4… at least its raids. Revisiting Castle Nathria and Sanctum of Domination with a few new fight mechanics has been fun. It’s been long enough that these fights have faded from memory, so they feel interesting and new. I will complain that after only two raids, the special abilities already feel sort of samey, and don’t necessarily make a notable impact. But I enjoy the idea, and I’ve had fun revisiting the raids and upgrading some gear because the place is packed with gear upgrades.
But I haven’t hit up any of the dungeons in Season 4, which I’ve heard are a mixed bag — particularly Karazhan, which sounds overturned. But it’s a nice change of pace to mix up the dungeon pool. Whether these were the right dungeons to mix things up with, or whether they’re well-tuned is another question, though.
Q4tQ What’s your favorite show from England?
Doctor Who. Easy.
What is your opinion on the mobile AH returning?
Did you ever use it the first time it was a thing?
I am just terrible at playing the auction house. Terrible. Dreadful. I go through phases where I try to use the auction house to make some gold, but it usually turns to a timesink with limited return. So I’m not sure the mobile auction house is quite for me. Maybe this will change with easy access to it. Who can say!
What name are you picking for your Dracthyr? Will you be using an original you made yourself, a name from a favorite property, or maybe even a reference or pun? (This is under the assumption you’re using a name holder already so no one can namesnipe you.)
I always with original names. I typically play as “Faience” and alt names start with the same “Fai” affix for consistency. I don’t go with puns or funny names (I am a humorless old lady).
But that said, I’m not totally sure I’ll roll one. Not that they’re bad, but the particular style of gameplay hasn’t clicked with me yet. But we’ll see whether I need to come up with a new “Fai” name!
Q4tQ: what draws you to a game you wouldn’t normally play and makes you think “Maybe I should try this one”?
For me, it’s character customization. I read yesterday about a F2P MMO that just started, and while its combat is based around fast-paced action which means there’s no way I would enjoy it, I saw all the talk about its extensive anime-style character customization and had to spend the whole day telling myself not to try it. I knew I’d spend who knows how long making a character, then try to play and get tired of being reminded that I have no controller skills. >_<
Story is always what gets me. For example, I’m not big into shooters, which basically defines the Mass Effect series, which I love. With a good story, I can enjoy just about any type of game.
And that is all, my lovely friends. Have a good day and a good weekend. Be sure to tell your loved ones you love them and pet your dogs (they both deserve it). Maybe also give them a treat (they also both deserve it). I also accept treats, I’m just saying. Take care of yourselves, everybody. 💙
