The Queue: Off-topic time!
I thought it might be fun to do some off-topic Queue questions. I’m not sure where I got this idea from, it might be because of the ramen question. Let’s blame that!
Next week we’ll probably return to our regularly scheduled programming.
While I log out of Warcraft, it’s time for — The Queue.
What ways do you use to kick your ramen noodles up a notch?
I like to add some veggies… onion and peppers work well…I then add a bit of summer sausage and egg. It’s so good, but looking for more ideas.
I often cook ramen with chili flakes, green onions, and an egg in the water. Those are super easy and make a big difference to your average pack of ramen.
You could also get frisky and do a take on Ram-don from Parasite. That’s a bit more work, but not a lot.
Or for a come-from-behind surprise, surprisingly excellent kind of thing, do some peanut butter sesame ramen.
Who knew that the cheap packs of ramen could be improved so much! The same also applies to Kraft Dinner. That’s a surprisingly good base for some cheap and delicious meals. Add some sauteed ground beef, onions, and shredded carrot alongside extra cheese and noodles and you’ve got a cheater casserole!
What’s your dream company to work for? If you had the chance to move to America, where would you go?
Well, I’ve done Chicago already, so maybe not there. However, like most writers here at Blizzard Watch, I think our dream company would be Blizzard, assuming they paid competitively for moving to California.
I’d love to be on the marketing team for Warcraft. They’ve been putting out some consistently fun and funny content across their socials, and I bet working on large-scale projects with them would be great. I’d also love to be on the production tech team with getting BlizzCon up and running, but I assume that’s mostly contracted out to a local production company. Maybe several, having seen how the industry works in my city. Or it could just all be Encore, which I assume has enough people operating in California to handle a large multiday production like BlizzCon.
If you had to play a sport semi-professionally for a year, what would it be? You don’t have to be good at said sport, but you do have to participate in every event for a full season.
I was going to say hockey at first blush since I am Canadian. However, I’m a terrible skater so that’s not a good option for me. I think my next choice would be competitive sailing. I like the water, and while I don’t know how to competitively sail, I do like being somewhere warm!
The second choice is professional bowling. I’m not a great bowler, but I do like it!
Are you single? And good looking?
Nope!
I like to think so, I have been called cute by more than one person in my life.
Q4Cory: Why bears?
I think it really came from switching to one in Warcraft. It just felt right though! When I was younger I was all about wolves, since they’re cool and pointy. Being a large unstoppable fuzzy tank fits me better now though.
I’m sad that I’ll never get to be a guy walking around with a pet bear in real life. I bet they give great hugs.
I also love the whole goal in life they seem to have of wander around and eat and sleep and eat and sleep. Good goal.
Did you ever enjoy comics and which ones if you did?
I did! I haven’t collected them or paid much attention outside of comic-book movies in a long time, but I used to have a weekly pull at a local comic shop. I do still have my entire run of trade paperbacks for the Ultimate Spider-Man series. As well as my nice fancily bound Hellboy collections. One of which is even signed by Mike Mignola!
What’s your favorite book, and/or what do you enjoy reading?
I don’t know that I have a favorite book. There is a lot that I really enjoy, but I don’t know that I have just one I can point to and say that “this book changed my life and everyone has to both read it and love it.”
I mainly read Sci-Fi, and Urban Fantasy mostly. I haven’t read a straight up-and-down Elves and Magic fantasy in a little while. But throw some cyberpunk or hidden versions of London in with those Elves and Magic and I’m all over it. I also really like the Warhammer 40k series. I’m a terrible mini-painter but I love the over-the-top nonsense of the Grim Dark future of the 41st millennium.
Dan Abnett and Aaron Dembski-Bowden are my favorite authors from it, but I do have a soft spot for Ben Counter too as the first WH40k that I ever read was Soul Drinkers.
How did the Muppet tweet change your life?
You can replace the cast of any movie with The Muppets, but you keep one of the human actors. What movie and which human do you keep?
— 👻Cory? He died 20 years ago this very night!💀 (@CoryjTaylor) July 15, 2018
It didn’t really.
I had no SoundCloud to push, I didn’t have any groundbreaking follow-up to post, and most of the people who followed me because of it just disappeared once they realized that I talk about video games mostly. It was just a fun bit of “huh neat.” The question has been asked before, and it’ll be asked again and again. It’s a fun question!
Most people liked to put the Muppets in very violent movies or very sexy movies. Very few were just mundane rom-coms. Although I do love the idea of Gonzo in Pride and Prejudice.
Amazingly, someone still answers it about once a month.
How many toppings do you put on your ice cream?
As many as you can get away with and still taste the ice cream.
