The Queue: Bisexual Old God
Hello and happy Wednesday, Queuemans! Today’s title and header image are inspired by our first question, which maybe dives sliiiiiightly into 10.1 spoiler territory. If you’d like to go into the patch or raid with zero knowledge, go ahead and skip the first Q&A — otherwise…

Q4tQ: is this the face of a new Old God?
The image comes from this Wowhead article, which is all about the room where we fight Sarkareth at the end of the next raid. The whole place is heavily void-themed, as is the fight itself. The place where you fight Sarkareth has broken chains beneath it – and we’ve seen broken chains associated with both Yogg-Saron (in Ulduar) and N’Zoth (in the Eternal Palace). Was there an Old God imprisoned beneath the Dragon Isles? And while we’ve seen stained glass images of some of the Old Gods before, the above pic doesn’t match any of them.
And also, that three-eyed fish that was datamined a while ago? It has purple eyes. N’Zoth’s fish had red eyes – all of N’Zoth’s stuff has red/orange eyes. None of the Old Gods are associated with purple eyes… that we know of.
So what are we looking at here?
Well, to answer your first question… maybe? It took me a minute to actually see a face out of this. If anything, the pink portion looks like a Special Power Jewel™ kinda thing.
Frankly, I see Neltharion’s face more than a new one here. Plus, the colors sort of match the magic used against Neltharion in the Well of Eternity dungeon.
So are we looking at SOMETHING related to Old Gods? Yes, I’m absolutely sure of that. Is it a new Old God? I’m not dismissing that chance, but I’m also not entirely convinced that’s what we’re seeing here yet.
Personally, I’d love to see Xal’atath make a return — but again, I’m not sure that’s entirely what Blizz is going for with this one. Maybe it’s because I can’t not see a dragon in that glass, but we’ll find out soon enough!

Anyone know about the next WoW Novel? Didn’t get one pre-game, but we had a Sylvanas one. Also, they are leaving money on the table by not doing more novels, what is this one per expansion ‘rule’ that they created for themselves?
First up, we do know a little about the next book being released — it’s the Dragonflight Codex, and it’s not a narrative like War Crimes and such.
As far as leaving money on the table… I’m not really sure about that. I wish it weren’t the case, but I suspect the portion of the playerbase that wants to read books outside of the game is actually very, very small.
I’m not saying books are a sunk cost; there are a lot of factors at play here that I’m sure I’m not privy to. But at the end of the day, I think if a lot of money were being left on the table, Blizz would be producing more novels.
(Personally, I love reading and books, but setting aside the time to do that vs. setting aside the time to quest is a very different thing for me.)
Hmmm… tauren druid is now level 70, but the “Old Hatreds” Baine and centaur quest is not showing up for him.
Is there a renown level I need to be before it becomes available? I don’t really like the centaur, but I do want the transmog…
Hm, I don’t know if I have a good answer for you here. I’m not finding anything on Renown requirements, so I suggest starting from the first quest and, if nothing else, running the script commands Wowhead lists to see if you’ve accidentally started the chain already.
Anyone here know mages, and can tell me why the hell I’m getting killed during ice block?
I’m not a Mage, but I believe if you have any sort of DOT — or Cauterize — effect on yourself, and if you don’t gain healing from Ice Block, you can still die in the Ice Block itself.
(Personally, I thought it was basically a Pally bubble, but I guess not.)
Edit: Also check damage logs if you can when this happens, because it might also just be a bug.
q4tq do we know the ilvl requirement for Aberrus LFR yet?
We don’t, but Vault of the Incarnates required item level 359 and the very earliest gear from LFR dropped at ilvl 376. For Abberus, the LFR item level starts at 402 so…. let’s assume 385 will be the requirement (which also lines up with the max gear level attainable in Vault LFR).
Again, we’ll find out soon enough! But that’s my guess based on napkin math.
