Players will be able to hunt Treasure Goblins in WoW patch 11.1.7 for the chance at new tier sets, and other rewards

The Greedy Emissary, a limited-time world event where Treasure Goblins spawn across Azeroth and offer Diablo-themed loot, is returning in World of Warcraft patch 11.1.7. We don’t have an official release date for patch 11.1.7, though we’ve guessed it will launch this coming June. We also don’t know when a Greedy Emissary will return in patch 11.1.7 but it will likely come later in the patch’s cycle.
Let’s look at what at exactly what you need to do (and what you’ll get) when the Greedy Emissary event returns.
How to participate in the Greedy Emissary event
The main focus of the Greedy Emissary is hunting down Treasure Goblins as they spawn throughout Azeroth. The goblins location spawn will alternate between Stormwind, Dornogal, and Orgrimmar, and Undermine. In the last Greedy Emissary event, the goblins spawned happened every 30 minutes — on the half hour in expansion zones and every other hour in capital cities. With only four zones identified in the upcoming event, the spawns may have a more consistent rotation every 30 minutes .
Look for a Treasure Goblin portal on the map shortly before the goblin spawns: show up and be ready with your AOE to tag the goblin as soon as it goes out. Multiple portals can spawn in a zone, so keep an eye on your map to see if there are any more goblins spawning. You can keep killing Treasure Goblins for more loot for as long as you’d like — there are no lockouts.
What loot can you get from the Greedy Emissary event
The most alluring loot that players will be able to earn from the loot goblins are recolored Tier 2 sets, with one available for each class. It’s not clear if these sets will drop as full kits, individual items, or if there’s a currency-vendor system involved. Once we know more about the event, we’ll update this post so you know exactly how to get these new rewards.
It’s also likely the rewards from the first Greedy Emissary will be up for grabs once again:
- Baa’lial Soulstone (battle pet) which gives you the Little Lord of Lies achievement. Baa’lial is a red variant of an existing battle pet, Baa’l, who was a secret reward you could get in Battle for Azeroth by completing an expansive quest chain throughout the BfA zones — but this version will just be a drop.
- Tyrael’s Charger (mount)
- Treasure Nabbin’ Bag (back)
- Enmity Hood and Cloak (cosmetic hood and cloak)
- Nightmare Banner (toy)
- Wirt’s Fightin’ Leg (off-hand)
- Wirt’s Haunted Leg (two-handed mace)
- Wirt’s Last Leg (one-handed mace)
- Horadric Haversack (36-slot bag)
- Livestock Lochaber Axe (polearm)
- Tome of Town Portal (toy)
- Twelve-String Guitar (toy)
- Charms you can carry in your inventory to provide buffs during the event, just like in Diablo 2
