5 great decks to use for Marvel SNAP’s Featured Location, The Sandbar

Marvel SNAP released the final Featured Location of the new Animals Assemble season, The Sandbar, and we’ve constructed some decks for you to try out there. Featured Locations, for those unaware, typically change over on Tuesdays and make a specific location more likely to appear. They are usually worth some deck adjustments if you’re looking to win some matches.

Let’s take a look at some great deck lists to use while The Sandbar is the Featured Location, though all of these decks will work to your benefit whenever you encounter The Sandbar Location in the future.

What is the The Sandbar in Marvel lore?

The Sandbar refers to a spit of land off the coast of Madripoor. Pirates who called The Sandbar home attacked Gambit and Laura Kinney, a.k.a. X-23, a female product of the Weapon X. Gambit wound up in shark infested waters for his troubles. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may remember Madripoor as a prominent location in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series on Disney Plus.

What’s the key to winning when The Sandbar is up?

The Sandbar is another Location which restricts the cards that the player can place there. We’ve seen something similar with Crimson Cosmos, Hellfire Club, Plunder Castle, or The Big House. Instead of restricting cards based upon their Energy costs as all those Locations do, The Sandbar instead restricts cards based upon their abilities — or more correctly, their lack of abilities. Only ability-less cards may be played at the Sandbar. These are cards like Hulk, Wasp, Abomination, Misty Knight, Thing, and Shocker.

Great decks to use on The Sandbar

Patriot

Deck code:

All those lovely ability-less cards are perfect buff targets for Patriot. This is currently a tier 1 deck in Marvel SNAP so not only will you be playing to the strength of the Location, you’ll be playing one of the best decks in the current meta.

Casino Patriot

This is a variation of the Patriot deck from SNAP content creator CozySNAP. This deck features the Patriot package but adds some RNG elements like Lockjaw and Jubilee to pull some of your high cost cards. It also runs Iron Man, which is my favorite card in the game.

Sauron

Deck code:

eyJOYW1lIjoiUG9zdCBOZXJmIFNodXJpIiwiQ2FyZHMiOlt7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlN1bnNwb3QifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ilplcm8ifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkVib255TWF3In0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJBcm1vciJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiTGl6YXJkIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJTYXVyb24ifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlNodXJpIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJUeXBob2lkTWFyeSJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiVGFza21hc3RlciJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiUmVkU2t1bGwifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkFtZXJpY2FDaGF2ZXoifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlNoZUh1bGsifV19

Sauron presents another way to attack the problem The Sandbar presents. By removing the Ongoing abilities from your cards, Sauron should allow you play those cards at The Sandbar. (Note: I don’t own Sauron, so I was not able to verify this in game.)

Enchantress

Deck code:

eyJOYW1lIjoic2VyYSBjb250cm9sIiwiQ2FyZHMiOlt7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ik5vdmEifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkhpdE1vbmtleSJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiU2NhcmxldFdpdGNoIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJTZW50aW5lbCJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiTXlzdGVyaW8ifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkxpemFyZCJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiQmlzaG9wIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJLaWxsbW9uZ2VyIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJQb2xhcmlzIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJTaGFuZ0NoaSJ9LHsiQ2FyZERlZklkIjoiRW5jaGFudHJlc3MifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlNlcmEifV19

You need a plan to compete with all the Patriot decks running around. Enchantress is the ideal foil and she slots nicely into the still competitive Sera Control deck. I’d even consider swapping out Scarlett Witch or Shang-Chi to give you a spot to run Rogue. There are so many Ongoing cards in the meta right now, but Rogue and Enchantress help you shut down two lanes. You could consider Super Skrull, but even with Super Skrull copying your opponent’s Patriot/Mystique/Blue Marvel, the rest of the their deck is still better set up to use them. You need to shut them down with Enchantress and Rogue.

Jeff / Vision

Deck code:

eyJOYW1lIjoiTWVhbiBNaXN0ZXIgTW92ZSIsIkNhcmRzIjpbeyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJOaWdodGNyYXdsZXIifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IllvbmR1In0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJEYXJlZGV2aWwifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkplZmZUaGVCYWJ5TGFuZFNoYXJrIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJTY2FybGV0V2l0Y2gifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IktpbmdwaW4ifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IlBvbGFyaXMifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkVuY2hhbnRyZXNzIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJDYXB0YWluTWFydmVsIn0seyJDYXJkRGVmSWQiOiJWaXNpb24ifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6IkFlcm8ifSx7IkNhcmREZWZJZCI6Ik1hZ25ldG8ifV19

Another way to deal with The Sandbar is with cards that can move there. The restriction on the Location is only playing cards there. Cards like Nightcrawler, Jeff the Baby Landshark, Vision, or Captain Marvel are free to use their movement abilities and relocate to The Sandbar.

What are your ideas?

The Sandbar tilts the meta even further into Ongoing cards like Patriot. Keep in mind that even as the Featured Location, there will still be matches that you don’t see The Sandbar. Make sure your deck is flexible enough that you don’t have to retreat if you don’t get The Sandbar in your Location pool. If you have the cards for the tier 1 Patriot deck, this shouldn’t be a problem!

Whether The Sandbar is in your Location pool due to the event, or just one of the randomly chosen ones after the event, hopefully these decks and tips help you win!
