The Queue: May the 3rd be with you
…And also with you?
Yeah, sorry, I didn’t really know what to do for today, so I stole tomorrow’s thing. I have no regrets.
But I do have a The Queue.
Q4tQ: how far did you progress in 10.1 today, and if you played, what’s your favorite part so far?
Sadly, I did not get time to play the patch yesterday. I’m way behind on WoW in general (except M+) and really need the hyperfocus juice to hit so I can spend a weekend catching up. Sadly, that hasn’t happened yet, so the focus goes elsewhere.
(More importantly, though, most of my time is spent being busy with, ugh, responsibilities.)
I get that it’s an underground zone, but did they have to make the ceiling so damn low?! Every time I lift off I feel like I’m scraping my head on stalactites.
One thing I really wish Blizz would embrace more in WoW is making things oversized for the sake of convenience. It was a long while back at this point, but I remember the first time I ran an “indoor” dungeon in FFXIV — I don’t remember the lore of the dungeon or why we were there, but what I do remember is thinking how much nicer it was to have ridiculously large halls. I didn’t run into camera issues, I never had a freaking tree block my view, and when things erupted into chaos, we all had room around us to actually see what was happening.
IIRC, this was also around the time I’d been running Waycrest, which, while still one of my favorite dungeons ever, has “realistic”-sized hallways and those… are a lot less fun to play in. I wanted a Waycrest with halls the size of the ones in FFXIV.
So yeah. I really wish WoW would just oversize some of its tighter hallways and indoor spaces for the sake of player convenience.
What do you do to let go of stress when you think you’ve forgotten how to not stress?
Hahahahahahaahahaha.
I wish I had a better answer, frankly, because this year has been a lot of stress. A very lot of it. And so far, I kind of default to sleeping or going out to somewhere loud until I’m tired enough to come home and, well, sleep.
That said, forcing yourself to do things that you know you’d normally enjoy without stressing will help. There’s a term for this that I’m completely blanking on, but basically, just because you feel stressed and assume a trip to the park won’t help, go to the park anyway because it will still help.
(I should also note, anti-anxiety meds do help and are encouraged, even if it does take a bit of time to find the ideal cocktail for your personal brand of stressed.)
Also, um, Blizzard Watch is not run by medical professionals and, for legal purposes, should not be taken as a source for official medical advice. Consult your doctor. Please don’t sue us.
Which did you choose?
OH RIGHT! IT’S A SPLATFEST WEEKEND!
I chose Power because I can’t bring myself to not support Shiver. Wisdom is probably closer to “me” but Shiver is also closer to my heart. And if Shiver wants Power, I will bring Shiver power.
>:)
This was inspired by my school banning Pokemon cards due to them being annoying to deal with because of kids ripping each other off and then parents complaining.
Q4TQ: What was banned from your elementary school primarily because it was annoying for the staff to deal with? For us it was marbles, we would gamble them.
Young Mitch may or may not have actually set in motion the events that led this to happen, but around the height of the Yu-Gi-Oh craze, our school effectively banned “all collectibles.” Crazy Bones, Pokémon cards, Yu-Gi-Oh cards, whatever. They were banned.
Of course, it largely served to cause a massive drop-off initially, only to really just not be a thing later on when Yu-Gi-Oh cards stopped being as big as they were. But goodness, were those wild times.
Q4Mitch: are you planning to get back to Overwatch 2 at any point? Did the changes they made to their monetization starting from Season 3 make you more likely to return at all?
There are times I miss Overwatch as the go-to time-killer, but I’m hoping Diablo 4 will fill that gap.
Outside of that, though, I’m still waiting for PVE to really bring me back in. I’m admittedly probably way more salty about this than I should be, but PVE was what made Overwatch 2 a new game for me. Heck, it’s what made it a new game for the devs! I remember asking Papa Jeph in an interview about what made it a sequel vs. DLC (I was trying to set him up for an easy answer lol), and he was understandably defensive, listing off all the major changes coming to the game that made it worthy of being called a “2” and not just a patch.
Most of the things he listed have not arrived yet.
When they do, I’ll be there, excited to play. Until then, I’m going to continue to be amazed that I actually want Loot Boxes back.
Are you excited for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 this weekend?
No and yes. No because I haven’t watched anything since Endgame, including the TV shows. Yes because I’ve still kept up on some of the IRL news about Guardians 3, and it sounds like a genuinely solid ending in an MCU filled with ellipses.
If nothing else, I’d love to support Gunn after all the crap he went through behind the scenes, as well as the cast for all having his back so wholeheartedly (especially Bautista).
So I may see it just to see it, even if a lot won’t make sense. (Yes, I know I should at least watch the holiday special first.)
That’s our Queue for today! I hope you all have a great week and enjoy the patch as stress-free as possible. Don’t forget to leave questions for tomorrow’s writer!
