Blizzard Watch Weekly: Dragonflight Season 2, Hearthstone Season 4, and a whole lot more happening in Blizzard games this week

paladin using speed of light

It’s another busy week for Blizzard games as the company continues a hectic pace of content roll-outs. Between last week and this week, we have new content for almost all Blizzard games. Here’s a rundown of what happened last week as well as a look at what’s coming in the week ahead.

Now live

  • Dragonflight patch 10.1 went live last week, so you can dive into Zaralek Cavern and try to stop Wrathion and Sabellian from bickering. (Spoiler: it’s a lost cause.) There’s also the Niffen to befriend, new Dragonriding Glyphs to collect, rares to kill, and a whole lot more.
  • The Darkmoon Faire is up in WoW this week, so head over to do this month’s quests and pick up a bit of extra profession knowledge… and maybe a buff to help you earn Niffen rep while you’re at it.
  • You can earn the Ethereal Portal hearthstone toy  in WoW via Twitch drops — if you’re quick about it. You’ll need to watch four hours of WoW on Twitch before tomorrow, May 9, at 9:59am pacific. However, once this drop is done, you’ll be able to earn the Blazing Hippogryph mount — and chances are, that’s the drop you were interested in anyway.
  • Diablo 2 Resurrected Ladder Season 4 started last week without much fanfare. Season 3 was a short one — I suspect to prevent Season 4 from overlapping with the Diablo 4 launch next month — but it’s possible short seasons will be the new normal for the game.
  • Wrath Classic patch 3.4.2 PTR is now live for testing. This includes Phase 3 content as well as a fresh set of Titan Runes to make dungeon content more challenging.

Coming soon

  • Dragonflight Season 2 kicks off on Tuesday after extended maintenance, due to last until 1pm pacific. This will launch the new raid Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible, with Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and LFR wing 1 all going live at the same time — a first for WoW.
  • Hearthstone Battlegrounds Season 4 starts Tuesday as well, shaking up the meta by removing Buddies (again), adding the Rockmaster Voone hero, and removing the Poisonous keyword.. I’m curious how this one will play out, and fortunately there’s not long to wait.
  • Hearthstone Twitch drops are coming as well, with the Bann Bronzegill Battlegrounds skin — yep, you can officially play Murloc Bann after watching one hour of Hearthstone on Twitch between May 9 – 16.
  • The Starwatch: Galactic Rescue event in Overwatch 2 runs from May 9 – 24, spinning the story of the (non-canonical) Infinite Empire, matching this season’s space opera theme. This 4v4 mode will put players in the role of watchers or agents of the Infinite Empire in a reworked version of the Horizon Lunar Colony map. Aaron Keller explains that the mode includes some PVE elements, as an NPC Doomfist will fight alongside players.
  • There’s another Diablo 4 dev livestream on Wednesday, May 10 at 11am pacific. The event will cover the game’s seasons, battle pass, and cosmetic rewards — topics we haven’t heard much about in a while.
  • Diablo 4 Server Slam beta starts this Friday, May 12 at 12pm pacific and runs through the weekend. Anyone can participate in this stress test — you just need to download the client (available starting May 10) on your platform of choice.
