What’s in WoW patch 10.1.5? Augmentation Evoker spec, Dawn of the Infinite mega-dungeon, and more!

Dracthyr with dark scales and outstretched wings

Dragonflight patch 10.1 has only just gone live, but Blizzard is continuing its ambitious plan of content releases with news on what’s coming in patch 10.1.5, which is due out this summer. Even though this is an x.5 patch, it’s a hefty one, featuring a new mega-dungeon, the new Augmentation Evoker specialization, a dragon daycare, the Kalimdor Grand Prix, and a whole lot more.

And there really is a lot happening in the next patch. Let’s run down everything that’s coming with patch 10.1.5.

Dracthyr Evoker Augmentation specialization

The rumors are true: Evokers are getting a third specialization, and it’s focused on support rather than straight-up DPS or healing. While Augmentation Evokers are officially DPS and will queue as DPS, their toolkit is all about buffing others, and this new spec is likely to shift how the entire game views damage-dealers. Blizzard is even adding “new combat log hooks so that addons and community websites can effectively measure your performance” to help track the impact this new spec has on groups.

Augmentation Evokers deliver their damage in a wholly unique way. They act as force multipliers, increasing their group’s capabilities (and damage output) significantly.

Certain Augmentation abilities buff either your whole party or specific members. Many of these have smart or proximity-based automatic targeting, enabling you to maintain focus on the battlefield and enemy selection. You will still be able to target specific party members if you desire; however, there is plenty of freedom to bolster your allies as you see fit.

Like the other Evoker specs, Augmentation makes use of familiar capabilities like spending Essence, using your mobility to navigate the battlefield effectively, and making use of empowered spells.

Dawn of the Infinite mega-dungeon

This massive Mythic-only dungeon has us fighting the Infinite Dragonflight, pitting players against Infinite Chromie (or as I like to think, goth Chromie) and Iridikron. The dungeon description initially mentioned that we’d be facing Galakrond, but Blizzard has clarified that Galakrond will not be a boss in the dungeon. Still, it seems likely we’ll see a flashback or other scene with Iridikron and Galakrond as we traverse the timeways.

You’ll face Iridikron, among others, as you work to sustain Azeroth’s timeline and put things to rights once more.

New events: Time Rifts and Eon’s Fringe

With a dungeon themed after the Infinite Dragonflight, it’s no surprise that the timeways are in a bit of disarray. These two events will both focus on putting damaged timeways right again. Time Rifts sound like they’ll be a group activity or scenario, while Eon’s Fringe is likely to be some kind of quest hub.

Maybe we’ll get to visit Asmurloth again? We can only hope.

Run your own dragon daycare

It’s possible I’m exaggerating a bit, but this really is a feature in patch 10.1.5. We’ll have the opportunity to help Little Scales Daycare look after dragon whelps. While it’s likely this will be a simple series of daily quests and activities, the theme sounds fun and I’m looking forward to training my own dragon army teaching young whelps the ways of the world.

Everybody gets to be a Warlock now

And I do mean everybody, including Lightforged Draenei. In 10.1.5, Night Elves, Draenei, Lightforged Draenei, Pandaren, Kul Tiran, Tauren, Highmountain Tauren, Mag’har Orcs, and Zandalari Trolls will all be able to be Warlocks. There will also be a new imp customization to unlock, and you’ll be able to customize your demons in the barber shop. Nice!

The Kalimdor Grand Prix and more

One particularly juicy mention was a Kalimdor Grand Prix, which sounds like we may be getting a Dragonriding race in Kalimdor — or possibly a larger event. A lot of players have been excited about getting Dragonriding in the rest of the world, but I doubt this will fully unlock the feature in other zones: I expect it to be a specific area (or areas) where you can race. It sounds like it could be a lot of fun, but all we know is the name.

We expect other updates to be included in the patch, too.Blizzard specifically mentioned the patch will include class updates for Mages, Rogues, and Holy Paladins, as well as “returning player improvements,” but as of yet we have no details on either.

For now, this is what we know about Dragonflight patch 10.1.5 — though we’ll know more as the patch progresses through testing on the PTR. Watch this space, as we’ll post updates as soon as we have them!
