It’s Nozdormu Day in Hearthstone! Now… what is Nozdormu Day and how can I participate?

Every 15th day of the month is Nozdormu Day in Hearthstone. But this isn’t simply a date to celebrate the father of bronze dragons everywhere for no particular reason: Nozdormu the Eternal is a very peculiar and beloved Hearthstone card. It’s a 7 mana, 8/8 Dragon with text that reads:

Start of Game: If this is in BOTH players’ decks, turns are only 15 seconds  long.

Sounds hectic and fun, right? But few players willingly add this card to their decks in the very faint hope that their opponent does the same, so that they can play a thrilling match of “speed Hearthstone.” Odds are very high that this simply isn’t gonna happen on its own.

Which is why the Hearthstone developers created a holiday to incentivize players to indulge in this fun at least once a month — every 15th day of the month, to be precise — with a reward for participating in it, in the form of a lucrative once-a-month quest. If you have a daily quest slot open on the 15th of every month, you’ll automatically get the following quest:

Play 3 games with Nozdormu the Eternal in your starting deck.

This quest gives you 1500 XP towards your Rewards Track, so it nets you more XP than most dailies for the effort required, meaning that it’s a very good idea to try to complete it.

How to participate in the Nozdormu Day event

First of all, make sure that you don’t have a full quest log the day before the 15th of the month, so that the Nozdormu Day quest will actually be added to your quest log.

Then, all you have to do is add Nozdormu the Eternal to any deck you want, and play Hearthstone. Any regular Constucted mode will do.

Keep in mind that your opponent does not need to also have Nozdormu in their own deck for the quest to progress: as long as you have Nozdormu in your deck and finish a game, that game will count towards the quest.

However, speaking from experience, actually playing those intense, super quick Nozdormu matches is a lot of fun. If you want to increase your odds of finding other players who are also trying to complete their Nozdormu Day quest and get those fast games, we recommend trying to queue on Casual mode instead of Ranked. Not everyone is willing to risk their rank by queuing with a “sub-optimal” Nozdormu deck — Casual is the designated “just for fun” mode, after all.

Also, we recommend not playing any slow, control, or combo-oriented decks with Nozdormu. With 15 second turns, you simply won’t have time to really deliberate on your moves: it’s going to be all about playing cards as quickly as possible, and the more aggressive strategies will benefit you here.

And have fun! Even if you don’t manage to get those crazy games with 15 second turns, just completing the quest is worthwhile for that extra XP, so make sure not to miss this monthly event.
