You can now sell items on the auction house from the WoW Companion app

Remember back when World of Warcraft let you use the Auction House from your phone? It’s an option that’s come and gone over the years, with the ability to list actual auctions removed last year due to ways it could be abused to disrupt servers. Well, if you miss that functionality, you can now commence your sanctioned jubilations because after a year lost in the desert we have been freed — you can once again buy and sell items on the Auction House using the WoW Companion app. When the new WoW Companion App debuted last year, they mentioned taking things slow and I guess they were serious as patch 10.1.5 is a fair distance from 9.2.7 when some AH functionality was restored.

The return of this additional functionality — allowing you to list items in your inventory on the AH for sale — is one a great many players have wanted for a long time. It still has its limits — you have to have the items you want to list in your active inventory, the app won’t take from your bank. But considering that’s true in the actual game as well, it still means that you could quickly place items in your bags before logging off and then make your listing in the morning at your leisure. You could also correct auctions you listed for the wrong price by canceling the order as well as search for and make purchases directly from the app, meaning that the original functionality of the AH in the app has now been restored.

Now, for some of us this isn’t that big a deal. I don’t do a lot of trading or AH speculation. But for players who do, it’s an amazing quality of life change and it will enable them to play the AH market while not sitting at their computer, which is a pretty big deal for players working on a lot of sales and purchases in a day. Being able to use your phone to manage your listings, search for and snap up items that are being sold for cheap and relist them — it’s the kind of functionality that many players relied upon. I have no doubt it will be very welcome in its new form.

So, who’s going to spend every waking moment cornering the market on copper ore? Good luck to all you budding tycoons.
