The Queue: But not a real green dress, that’s cruel

Look, blame Mitch, I can’t stop hearing it.

It’s the Queue and if I had a million dollars, I’d be rich.

CORY

Q4Matt: What would it take for you to join up with the Old Gods?

I don’t see a point to ‘joining’ the Old Gods. Either they’re Lovecraftian entities and they exist on a scale of cosmic existence that means I am utterly insignificant to them — it would be like trying to join a thunderstorm, or a hurricane, or a volcanic eruption. No matter how devoted you are to that volcano, it’s not going to notice, care, or refrain from killing you. Or they’re basically the equivalent of Snidley Whiplash — they’re going to keep tying people to the railroad tracks no matter how many times it doesn’t work.

So either they’re unknowable, unfathomable entities in which no real understanding can be reached and who destroy lives simply by existing, or they’re losers. Either way, I’m not interested.

Why is Letterkenny so good and how did I only find out about it like three weeks ago?

“So you’re late to the partyyyyyyyyyyyyy…”

Good news, there’s a spinoff.

I think Letterkenny is a very Ontario show. I can’t really call it Canadian because it’s more specifically rooted in the culture of Ontario, which is a very unique place within Canada although it’s often considered to be quintessentially Canadian to people in the United States. This is not me saying it’s not good,  by the by. But its very specific locational milieu does make it somewhat able to fly under the radar compared to other shows.

Also see Schitt’s Creek, a show you either love, hate, or have never heard of despite it starring Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, how the hell do people sleep on Catherine O’Hara I ask you.

VALENCEMAGI

Look.
Did I *need* to buy an 8″ tall Tyrande on Her Murder Cat, that I have to assemble and paint myself?
No, obviously not.

Define ‘need’ for me here.

MUSEDMOOSE

Q4tQ: what do you do when you’d like to play a game to take your mind off things, but feel like anything you play would just frustrate you? Asking for me. >_<

Tetris.

But honestly, I’m one of those people who can always log on to, say, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or Cyberpunk 2077, or Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning and have a ball blowing people up. I am not one of those people who demands my games be ‘hard’ although I’m not afraid of games being hard either. There are some games I love because they’re relaxing to simply annihilate everything, and honestly for me that’s also Tetris. I love that game.

BRAINSTRAIN

I wonder what they’re going to name the new world tree.

Maybe Valdrassil (from Valdrakken)? Or if it all goes wrong, Xaxdrassil (from Xaxas).

My money’s on Timothée Chalametdrassil.

What is your favorite ‘heel turn’ in any game and what is your favorite sequel/expansion in any game?

Favorite heel turn — it’s hard to say, but I honestly think it’s the Nameless One from Planescape Torment, because he’s the character you play for the entire game and then you find out you’re such a complete evil jackass and the real enemy you’ve been opposing turns out to be you all along.

Favorite sequel/expansion — honestly, this covers a lot of ground. Is it Fallout 2, the best of all Fallout games ever made and yes, I’m including New Vegas in that assessment? Or is it one of the two amazing expansions for Kingdoms of Amalur, both of which I thought were amazing? Or do I go to an old classic and say either Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn or its expansion, Throne of Bhaal? I could even go and say Diablo 3 or World of Warcraft which is itself a sequel to the Warcraft series and laden with expansions I enjoyed?

But at the end of the day, if I had to pick one that was my absolute favorite, I don’t think there’s a context. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a sequel to a game series I don’t even really like, and it’s one of my favorite games of the past fifteen years. I just love the character of Kassandra and watching her story unfold is a magnificent journey.

Okay, so that was the Queue. Take it easy everybody, have a good week, see you next Thursday.
