How to win the Idols of Azeroth Tavern Brawl

Welcome, one and all to the Hearthstone Idols of Azeroth Tavern Brawl! In other realities, idols compete by singing catchy songs, but not on Azeroth. Here, we compete with spells. Druid spells. Can you skills thrill the crowd and make you the next idol of Azeroth? Or will you choices hit a sour note and see your hero explode in a thousand tiny shards? Only one way to find out.

Idols of Azeroth Tavern Brawl basics

  • Name: Idols of Azeroth
  • Description: Ever draw a spell when you really needed a minion? Never again! Your deck will be 30 Raven Idols, so you’ll be able to Discover whatever you need.
  • Fun level: 3/10
  • Difficulty: 5/10
  • Replayability: 9/10
  • Format: Wild
  • Type: PvP
  • Deck: Provided
  • Rewards: 1 Standard pack. This pack can contain any card from any set in the current Standard rotation.

This Brawl is fairly straightforward. You only need to select a class and you’ll be given a deck with 30 Raven Idol cards. There are no class cards in your deck, only Raven Idols, which are Common Choose One Druid spells from the League of Explorers set. In this case, you can choose to Discover a minion or Discover a spell.

Each turn, you’ll likely play Raven Idol and decide if you need a spell or a minion. Then after you cast the spell, you’ll select from the three options provided. The format is Wild so there are a ton of possibilities. Choose wisely.

Mage and Druid are solid choices for your class — they both have obvious synergy with this premise. Mage has minions and spells that work well with all the spell casting you’ll be doing. Druid gives you ways to take advantage of Choose One spells.

That said, with the high RNG element to this Brawl, so any class can win. If you’re comfortable with the general playstyle of a specific class, that’s the one you should start out with.

I like to go for minions early and spells late. Putting a minion on the board early almost forces your opponent to get a minion of their own down to contest it. Once I have a few minions, I can use my Raven Idols to dig for the spells I need to deal with my opponent’s board and maintain initiative. RNG is powerful here so it doesn’t always work, but that’s the main strategy I employ.

Keep on queuing

Like with many Brawls that have a strong RNG element, the answer to the question of “how do I win the Idols of Azeroth Tavern Brawl?” is to keep on queuing. If you want the card pack, just keep playing another game. Eventually, you’ll get the right cards offered to you to Discover and overwhelm your opponent.

It’s a Brawl, so don’t be afraid to make a couple of YOLO plays. Maybe it’ll pay off. This is a great week if you need to finish a quest that calls for casting a number spells. Best of luck and may the RNG ever be in your favor.
