When is the World of Warcraft: The War Within release date? August 26!

The newest expansion for World of Warcraft has been announced and it is titled The War Within. Set deep inside of Azeroth, The War Within will have our heroes facing off against our old enemies the Nerubians led by Xal’atath while becoming allies with the Earthen who will join our cause as an Allied Race. At the Xbox Gaming Showcase at Summer Game Fest it was announced that World of Warcraft: The War Within is releasing on August 26, 2024, with early access starting at 6 pm EDT/3 pm PDT on August 22.

This is a surprise as it’s happening right after the end of WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria on August 19, and the beta has just started. Patch 11.0.1 which contains the prepatch events for The War Within will need to come out beforehand and has not hit the PTR. Still, a late August release date is in line with the current patching cadence since the start of Dragonflight, so it must be in a solid state to have the date announced in advance.

How can you buy The War Within? There are three prepurchase options

As with Dragonflight there are three editions that can be pre-purchased for The War Within. All three versions come with Dragonflight (if you don’t already own it), a level 70 enhanced character boost and Trader’s Tender. The Heroic edition adds the Algarian Stormrider mount (which can be used for Dragonriding) and the Stormrider’s Attire transmog set. The Epic Edition also adds guaranteed beta access, a storm hatchling pet, a storm gryphon toy, a new Hearthstone effect, an extra 30 days of game time and most importantly of all three days of Early Access before The War Within officially releases.

Pricing for The War Within is consistent with Dragonflight with the base edition being $50, the heroic edition $70, and the epic edition $90.
