The Queue: Tearing my hair out
So I sat down to write the Queue. Did so. Tried to get as many things in it as I could. Then, on my way to save it, somehow lost the entire post and now have to write it again.
This is the Queue. I am screaming inside.
Right from the start I took the profession revamp as sadly nothing more than making it overcomplicated for complexity’s sake. People have been asking for professions to be made more substantial and more important and they decided that making it annoyingly complex with a bunch of stuff to juggle was the way to do that, and I think it missed the mark by miles.
Amazingly enough, I actually kind of like crafting in Dragonflight. I don’t think it’s perfect and I wouldn’t mind seeing them dial the complexity down a bit. But I do think they made strides towards a future version that could be a lot of fun.
I would like it if they borrowed from some other games with crafting. One of the things I love about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is how they made crafting something you could just do, instead of something that requires you to have a specific built or talent to do. I think WoW should consider just letting everyone be a Blacksmith or an Engineer or a Leatherworker or what have you without having to choose a specific crafting profession.
I don’t know if it would work for WoW but I think it could be very cool if you could just make stuff.
So I had a joke about marshallows and a basic campfire. It sounded really good in my head. Then when I typed it, it wasn’t funny at all. So instead I’ll just go ‘Boop!”. I’ll keep an eye out for a flying bandanna. Who knows, maybe it caught a jetstream or was picked up by a UAP/UFO and somehow shook lose once across the Atlantic well on its way to Aldebaran. Stranger things must have happened.
Wait, jokes have to be funny?
I’ve been doing this all wrong.
I didn’t read the road map because I like surprises, but yes, I would 100% hope/agree/be mad/disappointment if Vol’Jin doesn’t show up in the Heritage Armor quest. Bru’Jin is a patient warlock. Bruinsamdi my Zandapal also hopes he may worship V’J as his new Loa. No offence to his namesake.
I’m still mad that Zul’jin ended up in Revendreth. Sometimes, the whole message of ‘Anger is bad, revenge will poison your heart’ kind of stomps all over ‘Fīat iūstitia ruat cælum” and that’s a shame in my eyes.
Don’t get me wrong, I liked Vol’jin and I’m glad he gets to be a Loa now, but Zul’jin was extremely hard done by and he never got any justice for all he lost. I would have settled for a simple apology.
I wanted to answer Arthono’s question about rarest bird I’ve seen but it would’ve been a one thousand word essay, starting with how one defines rare, whether birds in captivity would count, rare for my area versus rare overall (a “rare” bird I once saw literally has the moniker “Common” as part of its name), etc.
My only cool bird story.
I was newly moved to Edmonton, went for a walk to get used to my new neighborhood. As I walked, I heard a screech and then a big freaking fish (easily a 20 pound one) smashed into the roof of a parked car on the side of the road.
Then a Bald Eagle dropped own on top of it, screaming in protest. It gave me a look and a yell that seemed to say what are you looking at and then set to devouring the smashed up fish right on the roof of the car. The talons are terrifying, let me tell you.
Anyway, that’s the only real cool bird I’ve ever seen.
Ive not stepped foot in a raid. Week one of emerald dream and i was able to get a 463 weapon because of crafting. 2 weeks later i was able to find a slot i didnt have an upgrade yet for and recraft one of my pieces i made half a year ago to be 463.
Imo thats pretty awesome. All my characters can almost instantly get a massive uograde from their profession the day new content comes out and if gear continues to come slow thry can get something new every few weeks guaranteed from recrafting and work orders
I feel like you and Drakkenfyre should talk, because I feel like there’s validity in both of your views on professions. But I don’t feel comfortable trying to encapsulate them and risking putting words in your mouth.
Today I learned that Red thinks I am Zach Galifianakis.
Any white dude with a beard is sufficiently Zach Galifianakis for you, eh Red?
Someone talk me out of making, and then consuming, a batch of buttercream frosting.
The day may come when we try and stop you from making something beautiful. The time may be soon that we stand against the use of a beautiful thing that was intended for it — that we deny the buttercream its purpose, that we break all bonds of hedonism and turn forever from even the small joys of life.
Our lives are as comets hurtling across the void. The trails we leave are bits of ourselves torn from us and cast backwards, and we rush towards the very source of our destruction unable to prevent it. An uncaring darkness surrounds us, and even the many brights hanging in the void have teeth that can do us ill.
So shall I forbid you from creation?
Shall I demand you make no use of the wonders you create?
This day may someday come. I may someday say to you do not make this beautiful thing, and if it is somehow here, do not partake in it, do not enjoy that which you wrought from nothing with your own hands and will but that day is as yet far off.
Today I say to you love what you can, live while your here, leave your trail as a challenge to the void itself, and eat that frosting.
This was the second Queue I wrote today. I’m sorry for everyone whose questions/comments got lost and I tried to get all of you back. That dog is eight years old and still so freaking cute, y’all.
