Finally. Diablo 4 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on March 28!

Hell is finally coming to the Xbox Game Pass when Diablo 4 becomes the first Activision Blizzard game to join the service beginning March 28. It’s the culmination of a journey that first started when Microsoft announced plans to acquire the company back in 2022. Microsoft had previously promised the game might be coming to the service, but not before 2024, and here we are.

If you aren’t familiar, Game Pass is a subscription service that provides access to hundreds of games — both from Microsoft and third parties — for one monthly fee. Purchasing the service for PC or Xbox alone costs $9.99 per month, but the Ultimate tier allows subscribers full access to the games on console, PC, and cloud devices for $16.99 per month. This includes first day access to premium Xbox exclusives like Starfield. According to Microsoft, other titles coming to the service in 2024 include Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Towerborne, and more.

Diablo 4 will hit Game Pass just before Season 3 winds down on April 16 with Season 4 — and its much-anticipated and -requested itemization changes — following shortly. With the uneven reception of the game’s seasonal offerings so far, it’s a good way for new players to jump in and try it out without the pressure of paying full price.

Something to keep in mind: Like streaming service subscriptions in general, subscribing to Game Pass does not provide permanent access to individual titles. Games regularly come and go on the service, but subscribers do get what Microsoft describes as hefty discounts to purchase games that are leaving.

Microsoft has committed to bringing more Activision Blizzard games to Game Pass, leading to speculation about the possibility of World of Warcraft finally making the jump to console. There have been no concrete announcements of when more Blizzard titles might hit the service, beyond promises that further news will be shared soon.
