When does Hearthstone Battlegrounds Season 8 start?

We have an official release date for Hearthstone Battlegrounds Season 8: the new Season, called Trinkets & Travels and including a new “Trinkets” mechanic, comes August 20. This Season will also rotate out Buddies from the game, and reset player ratings for both regular Battlegrounds and Duos.

As usual, with this new Season we’ll get a new Battlegrounds Track filled with cosmetics that follow a theme — it’s all about the beach trip and the trinkets related to it this time — as well as a new Season Pass. Assuming the pricing doesn’t change, you should be able to get the Season Pass for either 1500 Runestones (if you buy it in-game) or $15 (if you get it from the Battle.net shop). The Season Pass unlocks extra cosmetics, but — perhaps more importantly — it allows you to choose from four heroes instead of two on every game. So while the pass is not required to play the game, it does sadly give you a distinct gameplay advantage.

Season 8 will also shake things up gameplay-wise once more. To refresh the experience, 38 minions will be removed from the minion pool, while 18 old minions will return, 27 brand-new minions will be added, and there will be two brand-new Tavern Spells as well. These changes will be revealed by Hearthstone content creators over the next days, culminating in a big Battlegrounds Preview Event on August 19, the day before patch 30.2 launches with the new season. You can find more info about the reveal schedule and event on the official blog.

Hearthstone Battlegrounds Seasons are analogous to expansions for Constructed Hearthstone, lasting for about four months each. They’re always released on x.2 patches:

So there you have it: Battlegrounds Season 8, Trinkets & Travels, is officially announced to launch August 20. We’ll see you on the Battlegrounds!
