What are you hoping to see at the 2024 Steam Summer Sale?
It’s Steam Summer Sale time again! That special time of year when huge discounts on games that have lingered on our wish lists for years make them more attractive, or when a popular title finally drops to what you consider a reasonable price! I’m actually in an odd situation this year as there are very few games on my wish list that are out or old enough to warrant going on sale. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to keep my eye out for deals, but my wallet may actually make it through this year’s sale unscathed.
Of course, the fastest way to ensure that doesn’t happen would be for Baldur’s Gate 3 to go on sale for more than 10% off. I’ve been waiting for the price to drop for awhile now and while I’m sure it’s worth the full price based on its accolades I don’t expect to have time to play it yet so I’m willing to bide my time to save some dollars (that will, of course, go towards other games). I don’t expect to see it hit 50% or even 30% off, but a 20% discount will be tempting and a 25% drop would likely make me buy it. If it sticks to a 10% discount again, though, I’ll probably be patient and wait for a sale later this year.
As always I will be paying very close attention to indie games, looking to pick up titles at a discount. There’s always a game or three where I’m like “oh yeah, I remember being intrigued by that one before, maybe I should consider it again”. I also have a tendency to pick up DLC for games I already have during the sale, as even if I’m not playing the game currently there’s a possibility I will start before the next time they go on sale and I like to be prepared.
What about you? Any big-name AAA titles you’ve been dying to get on sale that you plan on pouncing on? Do you tend to focus on picking up games from your wish list or are you mostly looking for deals? Or are you planning to skip the summer sale this year to concentrate on games you already have?
