When does Diablo 3 Season 32 start? The Season of Ethereal Memory kicks off July 12 with another recycled season theme

Diablo 3 Season 31 brought back the Forbidden Archives theme (aka Kanai’s Cube-o-Rama) to the chaotic enjoyment of all, but the wheel of the seasons constantly spins, so when can we expect the next Diablo 3 season? We now have confirmation that Diablo 3 Season 32, Ethereal Memory, starts Friday, July 12, 2024.

Season 30 launched on January 12, 2024 and Season 31 kicked off on April 12, not only maintaining the three-month seasonal cadence that the Diablo 3 team announced but also triggering a really cool date phenomenon with 2024 as a leap year. Don’t worry though — it’s not a virtual Groundhog Day and we’ll break the cycle in the fall; we can expect future seasons to continue like this, every three months, bringing an old seasonal theme back to the game.

Future seasons will still have still have the Altar of Rites and Visions of Enmity, which were first introduced to the game in Season 28 and Season 29 (respectively), but the seasonal themes will rotate in from past seasons. Season 32 reintroduces Season 24’s Ethereal weapons to the game — incredibly powerful weapons with high affixes, a random class legendary power and a random class passive power. Each class has three unique Ethereals, but only one can be equipped at a time (sorry dual-wielders).

However, the Season’s Journey rewards draw from past seasons in order. The rewards for Chapters 1 through 4 originated in Season 8 — the Wings of Andariel and a series of portrait frames inspired by the Burning Hells. The higher tiers (Slayer through Guardian) reward Season 20’s Teganze Warrior Portrait Frame and  terrifying Bat pet.

Moving forward, we don’t know which returning theme will crop up. Maybe we’ll even see theme combinations again — the addition of Season 14’s double treasure goblin spawns to Season 15’s double Horadric Caches from bounties was quote enjoyable! For now, revel in the adventures of Season 31’s Kanai’s Cube-o-Rama. We’ll see you in Season 32 with Ethereals in hand, starting July 12.
