The Queue: I love Diablo 4

I’ve basically been singing I love Diablo 4 to the tune of Joan Jett and the Blackheart’s I love Rock and Roll. I do this while playing, you guessed it, Diablo 4. I have played a lot of ARPG’s over the years — Wolcen, Last Epoch, Grim Dawn, Darksiders Genesis — and while I think Darksiders may be one of the best ARPG’s ever created, I still seem to be absolutely in love with Diablo 4.

Anyway, yeah, been playing a lot of D4 this week.

MUSEDMOOSE

Q4tQ: why isn’t this column showing up on the main BW page yet? >_<

If you were asking about the Queue your comment was left in, I have no idea. If you were asking about the Queue that I am now writing, at the time you asked, it hadn’t been written yet and therefore could not appear. Hopefully it will appear after it arrives in chronologically ordered time.

TELWAR

I wanted a “Dissonant Legion” third faction, with Manari, Ogres, Aldrachi, and other races to be introduced during Legion. Le sigh.

Honestly, I’ve always thought the Gorian Ogres from Warlords would make an excellent Allied Race or new playable race. I don’t really know if I want a third faction, or if I want the current two factions we have should just kind of getting mushed together instead of making more of them. I still would like to get playable Vrykul, Saberon, maybe even Centaurs and Tol’vir.

The Aldrachi would be hard to play since the Legion killed all of them, but maybe we could get some undead ones.

MAGECOOKIES

For those who were around then, remember the outrage about some mobs dropping a piece of Epic gear while opening up the Sunwell? Now imagine what it would have been like if hardcores were told that in 2024 you could run dungeons solo and fight the last boss of.the ultimate raid?

Heck, I remember getting a Staff of Jordan out of the Silithid just outside the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj and selling it for enough gold to get my first epic mount, and then a friend just gave me the Dire Maul book so I could get my Quel’serrar the same day.

What I’m saying here is that I am terrifyingly old. But yes, I do remember how much the game has changed over the years and it’s honestly kind of fascinating to me. I really like Delves, have run a few dungeons with NPC party members. Haven’t done Story Mode yet, but I’m definitely considering it.

WADDING EAGLE

I keep forgetting that some people actually like scented candles (they’re the reason I carry an epi-pen). But yeah, a kobold candle would smell like ear wax.

I am curious as to how you know what ear wax smells like. Especially what Kobold ear wax smells like. Are you a particular aficionado of the particular scents of ear wax?

CAPTAIN CAKEWALK, TECH KITTY!

Been playing Starfield, now that it’s mostly fixed, and it’s been fun. The best part is that the game, which ran like absolute poop when I first played it a year ago, now runs perfectly and not for the reason I was expecting. My other PC, which I use for when I’m not at my desk, has the minimum GPU, well slightly higher but still, of a 5700XT, and it definitely struggles with the game when one feature is disabled: Frame Generation.

I have a bit of an understanding of how it works, but it turns a pretty awful experience into a buttery smooth one which… I was not expecting at all! This is on high settings and with everything on max such as crowd density and such. The only downside is that quest markers are a bit jittery, which is an artefact of the frame generation at play. Definitely one of my fave innovations so far. :D

I never really had much if any technical problems with Starfield, but I was that one weird guy who straight up loved the game and still like it a lot. I really like how New Game + is a part of the game’s story, I really enjoy a lot of the quests — the UC Vanguard questlines are just really cool and fun, while also having a real horror vibe to them, whether it’s runaway Terrormorphs or the idea of dying stranded on a banking transport running out of food, air and time.

There are some quests I didn’t like as much, but there are so many weird little questing nuggets in Starfield that I enjoy that I keep trying to get people to play it. I’m seriously sad I won’t get to play Shattered Space but I’ve got a lot on my plate right now.

ARTHONOS

Q4tQ: What do you think is below Azj-Kahet?

Rotting chunks of the dismembered corpse of Y’Shaarj, which is where the Black Blood comes from.

Okay, that’s the Queue for today. I’m not sure why the loading screen is now showing me my horse, but he’s a good horse so I’ll allow it.
