The Queue: Still waiting on Autumn

Hello friends! Cory was unable to write today’s queue so I’ve stepped in to answer all your questions! I’m also here to gripe about the weather, which has remained decidedly un-autumnlike in my area. The next few weeks may be a little cooler, but I’m still seeing way too many 80°F/27°C days in the near future.  I shouldn’t complain about the weather too much though as I was very fortunate that Hurricane Helene didn’t wreak damage near me — there are some areas in Western NC that are just gone (here’s a list of ways to help if you’re inclined to). Fortunately the death toll wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been but a lot of areas are still recovering. Here’s hoping it won’t be much longer for needed relief out there.

Sorry, didn’t mean to turn this intro into a downer. Let’s answer some weather-free questions on this October eve.

STAY FOR JUST A WHILE STAY AND LET ME LOOK AT RETPALLYJIL

The first of the WoW concerts is today over in Europlanet. I cannot say I’m not jealous as hell. I’m glad Europe finally got an event, but we are getting super-stiffed after all the promises of events we got when Blizzcon was cancelled.

Q4tQ:
Is my extreme saltiness reasonable?????

I understand the saltiness, but I’m not sure it’s reasonable yet. We’re still over a month away and that’s still plenty of time to announce get-togethers and events for November to celebrate all of the anniversaries. Admittedly my expectations have dialed back some due to the lack of news — I was thinking there’d be like 25 events scattered around the world, now I’m thinking it’ll be closer to 5 — but I wouldn’t give in to the salt until we hit Halloween without news.

Speaking of Halloween…

WE’VE TRAVELED HALFWAY ‘ROUND THE WORLD TO FIND RETPALLYJIL AGAIN

Who/What would your main dress as for an actual Hallow’s End party?

I think this year I’d be going as Muradin, as since he’s the only main dwarf who’s been absent in The War Within (holding down the fort in Ironforge, I reckon) I kinda miss him. Sadly his hammer is not yet available to acquire — although it has been datamined as a future Trading Post item! — so I’ll have to put something together with foam.

ARTHONOS DANCED UNTIL THE NIGHT BECAME A BRAND NEW DAY

Q4tQ: What is your preferred gathering node to overload?

They all terrify me at this point, so I just overload the Crystallized ones for a portal to another node. They come in handy especially when you’re in a cave.

LOOK AT WHAT ARTHONOS HAS DONE

Q4tQ: If we do end up going to Undermine, do you hope it will be a minor patch zone like the Forbidden Reach, a mega dungeon, or an entire content patch zone with raid?

My suspicion at this point is that we’ll visiting Undermine as a full-fledged zone and raid most likely in patch 11.1. I don’t have any real evidence for that aside from the heavy goblin presence in Khaz Algar, but everything points to Undermine being large enough to justify a full zone for it even if we don’t go there during The War Within. While I guess it’s feasible we’ll get a zone without a raid like we did with Mechagon or the Forbidden Reach, I think a raid similar to MOTHERLODE but more extreme could be a lot of fun.

I CAN STILL HEAR STRANGE THOMAS CRYING IN THE CORNER OF YOUR ROOM

Do you think season 2 will bring new delves, or just recycle the current batch?

I believe whatever new zone we get will also have three Delves to match the other Khaz Algar zones, and I expect all the existing Delves to be updated in difficulty for Season 2. The one question I have is whether we’ll now have five Bountiful Delves each day or whether it’ll remain four and one zone (besides the new one) will be denied at a time.

AND LOOK HOW FAR WE’VE COME SO FAR FROM WHERE SJHAWK USED TO BE

Is Brann not gathering stuff from the mining and herbing nodes in Delves anymore? He rolls up to them, but I don’t get given anything now.

He’s become inconsistent. Sometimes he’ll get me one ore when he mines, but every time he notices something shiny or does some digging nothing appears to come of it. While I doubt it’s a huge loss not to get anything from this behavior, it doesn’t reflect well on him!

BUT NOT SO FAR THAT WE’VE FORGOTTEN HOW MUSEDMOOSE WAS BEFORE

Q4tQ: what’s the last game you played that was better than you expected?

This is tough for me because I tend to have high high hopes for a living. I’m going to go with The House in Fata Morgana, though, because it went in so many unexpected directions. While it’s technically a visual novel there are some choices involved so playthrough isn’t completely set. If you’re a fan of gothic novels and general wtf-ery I highly recommend it.

RED DANCED UNTIL THE NIGHT BECAME A BRAND NEW DAY

I’m home, what should I do first?

Finish Persona 3 Reload: Operation Aigis like you promised to!

SEPTEMBER MORNING STILL CAN MAKE RED FEEL THAT WAY

I saw you trying the Metaphor: ReFantazio demo earlier. I heard it’s very badly optimized for PC (and probably even worse on Steam Deck, as most demos are wont to be). Either way, do you have any impressions to share (if you were even able to play at all)?

I have heard that there are issues but frankly I’ve not encountered them, probably because I’ve been playing on my Steam Deck and I’m a lot more forgiving of frame rate drops and similar when doing so. I did have one crash that cost me 10 minutes early on, but other than that the game seems to play ok so far.

Fortunately the dev team seems to be aware of the issues and are working to address them, so that’s a good sign.

That’s all the space and time we have to answer questions today!

Today’s Anna Earworm™: September Morn*

Hopefully everyone had a wonderful September and here’s hoping for an excellently spooky October. Be sure to leave plenty of questions for Anna!
