The Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred launch has been delayed (and delayed), but servers are now online!
Diablo 4’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, was due to launch today, October 7, at 4pm pacific alongside Season 6, but Adam Fletcher (otherwise known as PezRadar, Diablo’s Global Director of Community) says the launch is delayed due to a “small technical issue.” Frankly, it wouldn’t be a Diablo 4 launch without some kind of technical problem, but we seem to be in for a fairly long downtime tonight. While Adam initially said this would be a “small delay,” at about 6:30 pacific he posted an update to say there would be about two additional hours of downtime.
After about a five hour delay, the Diablo 4 servers are now online with Vessel of Hatred. Battle.net users will have a large patch to download, however.
Here’s how Adam explained the problem:
We have some late breaking news for our launch for Vessel of Hatred.
We are looking at a small delay for launch due to a small technical issue on our end. We are still expecting Vessel of Hatred to launch this evening, but we will need some additional time to ensure we have every player start at the exact same time across all platforms.
The login screen notice is a bit more stark: “We will be performing emergency maintenance on Diablo IV and the game will be unavailable during this time. Thank you for your patience and apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
We’re now a little past 8:30 pacific, but Blizzard is still working to get the game online. Adam promises us we’re close to Nahantu in his latest update.
The new update is nearly finished uploading to our servers. We will be giving the greenlight once the update is finished and available for PC Bnet users to download.
During this time, we will be running last minute QA verifications before we turn things on.
Battle.net players should now have a fresh Diablo 4 patch available for download — just fire up Battle.net and start the update. As we were warned, this is a big update at 37gb, so you have some download time ahead of you.
It’s been a long evening of downtime, but servers are now online and relatively stable, so I’ll see you in Sanctuary.
