The scarily good Overwatch 2 season 13, called Spellbinder, starts October 15
Overwatch 2 has always embraced the Halloween season, and season 13’s events and cosmetics follow that theme with a gorgeous Spellbinder Widowmaker Mythic skin on the Battle Pass, along with a ton of other spooky cosmetics and fun stuff. As per usual, we’ll see the return of some of the older Mythic skins from earlier seasons if you missed them, plus a ton of new things to earn as you play your way to glory.
The core of season 13 is the Halloween Terror event, which starts October 15 as the season launches, and concludes halfway through the season on November 4. The OG Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride events are returning, but it seems that the Diablo-themed Sanctuary event is not. However, we’re getting a new PVP event instead. Junkenstein’s Laboratory features a talent system where you can improve your hero’s abilities, which sounds similar to the hero talent system initially touted for the game which was later scrapped. I’d expect that this either gives us a new quirky way to play, or there will be a handful of super overpowered abilities and heroes that dominate and make the whole thing an unfun drudgery to suffer through once a day until you earn the cosmetics.
The other announced feature for this season is a My Hero Academia cosmetics crossover which runs concurrently with Halloween Terror, October 17-30, so we’d assume there won’t be much more to this event than a chance to open your pocketbook.
That was all that was announced for this season, which will likely end December 17 as the Holiday seasonal events roll out in season 14. This leaves some question marks, since we’d expect some kind of event at least once more through the rest of November. Maybe we’ll just see some older modes returning to the Arcade, so they can really give this year’s Winter events some love.
