The Queue: Things are getting spookier
There’s a chill in the air and the nights are getting longer. Things are ramping up to the spookiest (best) time of the year! The candy bars are getting smaller, the air is getting chillier, the leaves are crunchier, and that strange noise in the night might be a small critter — or it might be a ghost!
While I definitely don’t go investigate that alone, it’s time for — The Queue!
It’s October 19!
Happy birthday to Cory, Yarmet, my tauren druid (jeez, 16 years old now!), probably some of my other characters, and… anyone else who’s birthday I didn’t realize was today.
(Also Evander Holyfield, Divine (RIP), and John Lithgow.)
Thanks! Happy Birthday to Yarmet and your Druid!
I have had the most amazing time thanks to my lovely girlfriend who has spoiled me something fierce. We went on fun spooky outings galore, and she baked me an amazingly decadent triple-layer chocolate and peanut butter cake. It was probably one of the best birthdays ever!
John Lithgow is amazing, he’s a worthy birthday companion.
I misread the Queue title as “why are we here”.
Q4tQ: why are we here?
Why not?
We’re here to kick ass and chew bubblegum and we’re all out of gum?
We’re here for a good time, not for a long time?
We’re here for all of the latest news on the Mists of Pandaria expansion?
These are all probably right, but I bet that we’re really all here because it’s nice to have a connection with other people who have a shared interest in the same nerdy things, and not so nerdy things in some cases. I guess it would depend on how nerdy you find cooking and sports.
TWO DAYS TO DECIDE WHAT MY 2 MAGES AND 2 LOCKS ARE GONNA BE, AAAAHHHHH
Orcs! All four of them should be Orcs, they’re the perfect spell-casters. They have big muscles so they can fling their spells faster and harder. Think about it, when you’re choosing between getting hit by an Ice Lance launched by a wimpy little Elf or a big burly Orc — you would take that teensy little Elf’s barely airborne slush.
Q ft Q – with all the different XP buffs coming in the anniversary patch will it be the best time to bring alts to max level? Will the event’s daily and weekly quests and activities be a good way to level various alts? Thanks as always!
Events like this are usually major sources of temporary experience buffs, and I’m happy to report that this one is no different. There are a couple of new ones from the Anniversary event that will stack with a variety of other sources. There is a nice round-up on Reddit, but most of them are the usual XP buffs that you could always take advantage of. A big source will be having multiple max-level characters in your Warband, so it might not be as fast for you right away, but you’ll find subsequent characters get faster.
Hey Cory q4tq: what is your favorite scary movie and why is it The Haunting (1963)?
I haven’t seen The Haunting (1963) but I will look into it! I think my favorite scary movie(s) is the original Evil Dead trilogy with Bruce Campbell. I love the cabin in the wood and chainsaw arm aesthetics. I also love all of the first-person camera swooshing that Sam Raimi uses to show demonic spirits.
Sure Army of Darkness trends more towards comedy than scary, but I still love Bruce fighting a swarm of tiny evil Bruce Campbells.
Special shout-out to the Ash Vs The Evil Dead tv show for keeping the spirit alive, and bringing Lucy Lawless in as a villain and frenemy. I’ll never look at a deli slicer the same way again.
Bacardi was mid-stretch when I snuck this photo. He’s probably reaching for some shiny loot just for you. It certainly wasn’t because I shifted slightly and woke him up from his nap. It’s hard to be a cat sometimes.
