The Queue: Not just a sword
The newest weekly quest from High Speaker Brinthe to collect 100 titan disc fragments had a very interesting revelation that I’m not going to get into because it wouldn’t be fair as many people haven’t had a chance to complete it yet. But I recommend doing so as they’re dropping some ginormous hints about what the ultimate culmination plot of the Worldsoul Saga will be.
What I particularly like is that while the gears in my head were turning they were turning in Dagran’s head too. All too often we see major NPCs hold tight to the idiot stick when there’s a lore reveal that holds major implications, but it seems at least one major character won’t be dumbfounded when this new tidbit pays off in The Last Titan.
Of course, that’s two expansions and a few years from now, but there may be a quiz in a fortnight so pay attention! While we all sharpen our #2 pencils, let’s answer some questions about the here and now!
Q4tQ:
Have you ever broken any ribs? If so, how long did they take to heal??
I have! But you won’t like the second answer because it took close to six months. However, that was largely my fault; I had a persistent cough that took all winter and spring to finally get rid of, and that was both the source of the broken ribs as well as the fact that they kept getting reinjured. I had no idea though — I assumed it was a muscle injury and never had it checked out.
Imagine my surprise that fall when I was got an x-ray to check for pneumonia and the doctor casually noted that everything looked good and that the ribs had healed fine.
In short, if you suspect broken ribs make sure to take time to see a doctor so you don’t end up suffering unnecessarily like I did. I’m sure I would’ve gotten bandages or similar to reduce the likelihood of reinjury.
Q4TQ: what are your thoughts on Warcraft 2 Remastered? Do you think Blizzard learned some valuable lessons from Warcraft 3 Reforged and will do better this time?
I think it can be a cool game, there’s not much in the RTS genre these days and remasters generally do well cashing in on nostalgia.
Did they learn any lessons? Sadly I don’t think we’ll know that until the game is out. As near as I can tell the problem with WC3: Reforged is they promised a release year when it was announced at BlizzCon and they weren’t ready and weren’t going to be able to complete it before the end of the promised year — so they did a rush job to get it out. And even that didn’t help as they were forced to offer refunds.
If they recognize this internally and don’t make the same mistakes then I think it has a good chance of being successful. We’ll have to wait and see though.
Speaking of Warcraft 2 …
What mount do you guess will be given for buying the Warcraft 2 remake?
Oooh, this is a tough one. If they hadn’t given us ten million gryphons in the past couple years that’d be my guess, but that feels redundant at this point. Since we got a Scourge Meat Wagon last time, maybe we’ll get a mobile Night Elf-style Ballista to ride around in.
If they choose a flying mount, though, I’m thinking they just give us a low-res dragon decorated with WC2 items to fly on.
Do you think Starcraft: Ghost will release on the Switch 2?
If there is a SC: Ghost (which would be awesome, especially if they also release Titan at the same time), I have to think they’ll try to get it on the Switch 2 which should have the necessary hardware to handle it.
Speaking of the Switch 2…
Q4tQ: Think the Switch 2 being backwards compatible will be a big draw?
I think the announcement that the Switch 2 will be backwards-compatible comes as a great relief to many Switch players with an extensive library built up over the past eight years. However, it comes with a gigantic caveat: what about physical games? The announcement doesn’t say whether the tasty game cards will work on the new console, and for people like me who prefer their software in a physical format backwards-compatibility is not a draw if it only applies to digital games.
What’s the absolute weirdest moment you’ve had in this expansion so far? I got attacked by angry chickens. :D
There’s been so many poultry-related encounters in World of Warcraft that it no longer surprises me when it happens!
I’m going to go with the introduction of the High Speaker in the early Ringing Deeps questing. It was just hilarious to me that he has a track-mounted chair that people drag him around on. Just fantastic showmanship on his part.
Q4tQ: what’s your most prized nerdy collectible?
“Prized” is tough to answer, because I love so many of my children figures and I couldn’t bear to part with many of them. However, the absolutely gargantuan Tiamat I got trading in a ton of unused rpg books is easily the most impressive — I’m thinking of using it like a gargoyle on my headstone.
In terms of rarity I think the coolest item I own is The One Ring from the very first Lord of the Rings TCG that came out. I don’t think it’s all that hard to acquire but it’s precious to me.
Q4tQ: What are your thoughts regarding the new information we got this week about the Thraegar? Are they actually corrupted, or did they just gain free will and deviate from the Titan’s plan? Will we face off against them before the expansions end, befriend them, or both?
Like I said in the intro, there are implications behind what we learned and I think it’s safe to say that Azeroth herself sees the Worldcore as a prison. I’m not even sure if the Traegar getting “free will” actually matters as much as the fact that Azeroth very clearly wants out and was using them to do so.
I also don’t think we’ll encounter any (Titans aren’t ones to leave their messes around) but if we do I’m relatively certain they’ll be on our side — unless there’s an additional layer of corruption that turns them hostile.
That’s all the time for questions we have today! Everyone make sure to take care of themselves and stay hydrated — especially with cold weather coming eventually maybe. Make sure you ask plenty of questions for Matt and we’ll chat later!
