StarCraft and StarCraft 2 now on Xbox PC Game Pass
This week, StarCraft: Remastered and the complete campaign to StarCraft 2 were added to the Xbox Game Pass PC Edition. This includes all of the Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and Legacy of the Void expansions for the popular RTS as well as the Nova Covert Ops mission packs. With two simple clicks, these games can be yours.
All you need to play is Game Pass — obviously — as well as a Battle.net account, the most recent version of the Battle.net Launcher, and the Game Pass app. Simply search for StarCraft in the Game Pass app and select install. It will load up the Battle.net launcher, and the game is added to your inventory ready to install. You will then be able to launch the games from either Battle.net or Xbox Game Pass. It is as simple as that.
While you do gain access to all of the campaign modes, you would still need to purchase any cosmetic items if you want them, such as the Carbot StarCraft Cartooned conversion or any of the multitude of skins, announcers, and commanders for StarCraft 2 Co-op and multiplayer. You also do not appear to have Artanis unlocked in Heroes of the Storm or any of the digital goodies in World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, and Hearthstone even though it appears that this version of the game is supposed to have those assets unlocked as a part of the Digital Deluxe edition.
The StarCraft games being added to Xbox Game Pass does offer an ease of access that can bring in new players and rekindle interest in the iconic franchise, as well as a hope for more titles in the future being made available for Game Pass users.
