The Queue: Liz, it’s Wednesday

What a week, am I right?

I am mostly playing Dragon Age right now, in which I made a choice that sent me into the darkest timeline, but it’s fine, completely okay, I am not having an emotional breakdown and I will attempt to answer your questions about Blizzard now. This is the Queue, and let’s go.

RED ASKED:

Q4TQ: what do you think they’ll announce in the big anniversary livestream tomorrow?

This is going to be a short-lived answer since Warcraft Direct starts at NQT (New Queue Time), so read fast before this is out of date. I expect Warcraft 2 remastered (as has been rumored), Warcraft 3 re-remastered, a patch 11.0.7 release date, and a patch 11.1 trailer. I can’t imagine what they could be doing with Hearthstone a week after the latest expansion and any Warcraft Rumble news that isn’t an announcement the game is going into maintenance mode would surprise me… but this is marketed as an upbeat announcement, so it can’t be that.

The event is supposedly only 45 minutes long, and there’s only so much you can cram into 45 minutes, particularly since it’s also listed as a nostalgia trip back through 30 years of the franchise. I don’t think we can get more than quick hits from these games. My thought is to keep expectations low.

But Blizzard has really been hyping this. So I do hope there’s something here and it isn’t all mislaid expectations.

KALCHEUS ASKED:

Q4tQ What do you think of the whole “University of Warcraft” crossover with the University of Washington?

I do not understand this at all.

FUZZYBUNNY ASKED:

Q4tQ:
Do you think Blizz will rotate followers for the Delves, or will we get a new one every season and won’t get the previous ones in later seasons?

I think we’ll get a new companion every Delve season because Blizzard loves abandoning characters. Well, okay, that’s my cynical answer: there’s a definite tendency to leave characters behind once their job is done.

But I also think Blizzard will want to do something different with each season, and the followers concept is a very easy to do this. Bring in a new character, give them some new skills, and the same Delves could start feeling different.

And that’s all for today, my friends. I’ll see you back here next week on one of the days of the week (probably). It’s too early to say.
