Where in the World (of Warcraft) will you build your house?
With player housing properly teased during Wednesday’s Warcraft Direct, there has been a lot of speculation on what exactly it will entail. Will we get to build our house from scratch? Is it one per warband, or do all your alts get their own? And how much will it cost??
We’re hoping for the best as far as features go, but once it goes live some time during World of Warcraft: Midnight, I imagine our first important choice will be where to break ground for our own personal home away from home.
Let’s be honest; this has been in the works for a long time. The number of game assets which have received glam-ups in the last few expansions is strongly suggestive of a future world revamp like we saw in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, but those same upgrades could certainly be intended to populate richly-detailed neighborhoods around Azeroth. Even more telling have been the lackluster “restorations” of Undercity and Gilneas (the first one didn’t even have a flight master, last I checked), and the practically empty settlement beneath Amirdrassil. Why not fill these spaces properly unless they intended to do something more expansive with them in the future?
My guess, given all this (as well as the promised overhaul of Silvermoon coming in Midnight) is that housing will be based largely in the capital cities of the Horde and the Alliance, with abodes styled largely to match the architecture of that zone. On the other hand, we could be given more free rein, able to choose locations in Brill, Goldshire, and other similar neighborhoods. Myself, I wouldn’t mind a little farmhouse out in the woods of Silverpine or Tirisfal Glades.
So how about you? Where are your characters most likely to make their home once player housing rolls out in Midnight?
