What’s the secret to a high score in the Hearthstone Storming Stormwind Tavern Brawl? Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up. You’ve got a deck of 30 cards, your wits, and the strength of your minions. Stormwind has an endless supply of soldiers growing ever stronger. What you need is a visit to Miraculous Marvin. He’ll whip you up a miracle pill that will see you to victory. Just be sure to give it at least fifteen minutes for full potency, and don’t go swimming for at least an hour.

Here’s what you need to know to win the Storming Stormwind Tavern Brawl.

In this Brawl, your “opponent” is Stormwind City itself. It equips a weapon that increases in attack each turn. You can destroy the weapon, but it will equip it again the next turn and start building up attack again. It has a 2 mana Hero Power that summons a custom minion for the Brawl: the Stormwind Swordsman gains stats equal to the weapon’s attack, while the Stormwind Soldier just gains health. If the weapon has 3 attack, the Stormwind Swordsman will be a 4/4. If the weapon has 10 attack, the Stormwind Swordsman will be an 11/11.

Storming Stormwind is a PVE survivor type Brawl. You can’t “win” per se. You score points by attacking the “face,” but the city’s health doesn’t go down, goes up! This acts sort of like a scoreboard.

The goal is simply to survive for as long as you can, although Stormwind will surrender if you deal 1000 damage to it. The longer a match goes on, the more difficult it is to survive. When Stormwind is throwing 15/15 (or higher) soldiers at you, the gameboard becomes challenging. Personally, I didn’t like this aspect to it. It made the game mode feel frustrating to me, at least with the home grown decks I tried with my limited collection.

No matter what happens in a match, as long as you finish and don’t concede, it’s considered a victory. When you’re defeated, your hero goes immune and Stormwind City explodes instead, unveiling a statistics screen to tell you how well you did. Playing once will get you the weekly Brawl Standard pack, regardless of your score.

Storming Stormwind is an excellent time to complete quests, especially those Warcraft Anniversary quests. I had the “Play Draenei” quest so I made a deck with all the Draenei I had. I didn’t get a huge score, but I made significant progress on my quest.
