The Queue: The Frozen Throne, and everything else really
It’s happened, snow has arrived and with it colder temperatures. Next week it’s supposed to get closer to -30 celsius than -20. Yaaaaaaaay.
It’s fine, I’ll get used to it in a little while. Until then like any man with a cold I’m gonna be super complainy about it.
While I try and find another sweater to wear, it’s time for — The Queue!
Warcraft Tweeted: Happy National Kevin Day
I don’t know why it was National Kevin day on Sunday, and at this point I’m too afraid to ask. So I guess I’ll just join in and say have a happy belated Kevin day and I hope you get some cake, which may or may not be death.
Q4tQ: feel old yet?
I do! Just today at work I asked the older guy if he remembered an old thing and he did, and the younger guy just looked at us like we were crazy.
Which, To be fair, we might be, but still!
At least I can still sneeze without throwing out my back. I’m not that old yet.
Re: Diablo 4 seasons.
After the firestorm with Season of the Construct (right? I recall some massive game design/balance uproar with that season), I think Blizz realized they just had to buckle down and fix the base game. And I think it was the right call.
I expect we’ll see Seasons be a lot more fun and experimental now that the foundation is so much stronger.
Season of the Construct was when I really started to play! I did ok, and didn’t quite get the hate that other people seemed to have for it. I guess they didn’t like lil Robot buddy? I dunno, I thought it was cool having a pal hit people with spikes and fireballs and such.
You are right though that after that was the season of Loot Reborn and that had a big mechanical shift with the main driving force for the game. It worked out though, and while I found it annoying to relearn how the game worked so quickly, I did enjoy throwing Skeletons at my problems until I had no more problems.
I will echo Liz’s sentiments that this season has felt pretty weak. I have my Spiritborn bopping around blowing stuff up with Pestilent Swarms and Touch of Death and I mostly understand what the damage is coming from, but also it’s a little inscrutable sometimes. The one-shot deaths still exist at high Torment and Pit runs, which I feel they tried to get away from, but maybe that’s just gonna be a thing forever.
But for new season content, we got a new monster to chase out in the world, who lets you into a little dungeon with some average treasure rewards to get, and then you can do that again later. They didn’t even make the reputation have a Warcraft style paragon box where for every 20k rep you earned you got some prizes.
I’m hoping that the new fun toys to play with in Season of the Witch make it a stronger time. Though I would still like to see more story content, or a better endgame activity rotation to incentivize swapping between activities. If they had more Tree whispers for killing a Tormented Duriel, then a Pit run, then use a Nightmare key, then a etc etc — so there was rewards for doing more than just the same content over again I would be so happy.
Bacardi has your back. Wait sorry I phrased that wrong, Bacardi is behind you 100%. Literally.
He snuck up on me when I least expected it, and now it’s your turn for luck to sneak up on you when you also least expect it. So just don’t expect any luck, and you’ll be set! I think that’s how it works anyway.
Has someone consulted a top luck expert? A scientist in the field of luck? That sounds awfully close to a statistician though, and I was under the impression that there would be no math.
