What’s your favorite detail at the 20th Anniversary Event that others might have missed?
There’s a ton of stuff in game as part of WoW‘s 20th Annivesary event — rewards to buy, Timewalking to run, achievements to hunt, quests to do, and secrets to ferret out. Between all the stuff that’s in-game to do and all the visitors to the Faire that you can talk to (please be sure and talk to catty couple Flynn Fairwind and Mathias Shaw, at a minimum) or just see hanging out (Cro Threadstrong and Granny Smith taking time to take in Story Time, for example — and did you notice random gnoll there, too?), it’s no wonder that it’s possible to miss any number of small details at the Anniversary event grounds.
One of the funniest gags, however, has to do with Alyx, the Volunteer Assistant Guest Relations Manager. This title, which is what she is sporting when you first visit the event, is a mouthful in and of itself — it’s reminiscent of the Assistant (to the) Regional Manager gag from The Office. However, if you’ve been dutifully working on the Guest Relations quests (both the main storyline and the side stories), you might have noticed that in addition to the never-ending line getting longer and longer (at one point it curves around half of the inside of the central gazebo area), Alyx’s responsibilities keep getting longer… and longer… and longer, eventually culminating in her being the Volunteer Senior Assistant Lead Guest Relations Manager, Executive Associate Event Coordinator, and Chief Temporary Agent of Timelines and Services. No wonder she has to deploy you to Ardenweald at one point, since she’s apparently responsible for every celebration… everywhere. (Is Alyx a bronze dragon?)
At least at one point she becomes a Celebrated Volunteer Finally Recognized for Their Work. But then it’s right back to the grind.
This title change has greatly amused me this past week while I’ve been working through the Guest Relations quests and Celebration Crates. What’s your favorite little detail been that someone might have missed?
