What changes would you like to see to weekly tasks in The War Within?

We’re about sixteen weeks into The War Within, meaning that we’ve had over a dozen chances to try out the new weekly world events scattered across Khaz Algar. Yet Midnight is still well over a year away, meaning these weekly tasks will be relevant for a long time to come. Like most content, we all have our favorites (and that one that we never, ever do). It doesn’t seem super likely given the steady pace of brand new content that has rolled out since launch and will continue to be added to the game given next year’s roadmap, but I can’t help wondering if some small tweaks could make our weekly task list less of a chore.

One thing I’d really like to see is some difficulty scaling added to Awakening the Machine. Running the gauntlet of 20 increasingly chaotic waves of foes is something I have looked forward to less and less each week. Partnering with Speaker Kuldas to commune with the machine for the very first time as a fresh 80 felt challenging, but as both my familiarity with the strategy and my gear score have gone up, the amount I look forward to landing in Gundargaz each weekly reset has gone down.

What if we could get a scaling difficulty system in the vein of Delve tiers? It wouldn’t even have to be as fine as 11 different challenge levels, but even one or two harder options would make me look forward to fixing up the earthen’s old junk each week just a little bit more. Perhaps a new type of mob added into the mix would re-ignite that feeling of chaos from the first few runs — imagine being periodically stunned from across the room in the middle of wave 19.

I’d be willing to use some extra concentration and consumables on a hard mode each week even if the only reward was an achievement. “Run Awakening the Machine in Heroic Difficulty ten times” would be sufficient for me. Although if I really had to choose a cool reward, you could add a battle pet to match the mech suit mount which has, so far, still eluded me.

So how would you add some spice to one of The War Within’s weekly events? Would you want new features, or additional rewards? Or are you ready to leave them behind to move on to Siren Isle and Undermine?
