Blizzard announces locations and dates for Warcraft 30th Anniversary World Tour in-person events
The 30th Anniversary of Warcraft celebration continues… in person! Six locations around the world will be hosting an in-person event between February and May of 2025 as part of the ongoing celebration. Details are scarce and tickets are not yet available, but the events are promised to be “intimate gatherings” with live entertainment, Warcraft developers, and unique activities.
Are these events the new BlizzCon? About two months ago the Warcraft Direct livestream was chock-full of announcements about nearly all of Blizzard’s active titles. These globe-spanning parties seem to be a physical companion to the fuzzy feel-goods portion of the presentation, since there was no in-person BlizzCon in 2024.
Here are the cities and dates for the Warcraft 30th Anniversary World Tour:
- London, United Kingdom, February 22
- Seoul, South Korea, March 8
- Toronto, Canada, March 15
- Sydney, Australia, April 3
- São Paolo, Brazil, April 19
- Boston, USA, May 10 (part of PAX East)
That’s five continents in eleven weeks, so I hope the team has a stack of Rune of Portals handy. Details are light on exactly what attendees can expect from these six events, but tickets are promised to be free (but in limited quantities), so there aren’t many barriers to attendance. Tickets aren’t available yet, and the official site advises you to keep an eye on regional Warcraft channels for info on when you can grab tickets.
I am going to move the “Probability of BlizzCon 2025 Happening” peg down another notch with this announcement. Between the Direct livestream and these in-person events, it almost seems like a substitute for the lack of BlizzCon 2024. Being absorbed by Microsoft is another factor — we may see Blizzard game announcements as part of Microsoft in-person events going forward. Finally, the Midnight expansion reveal being scheduled for late summer 2025 on the World of Warcraft roadmap would leave a traditional November BlizzCon feeling a bit lacking in major announcement possibilities.
I am planning on going to PAX East this year, so the finale of this world tour being right on my doorstep in Boston is a nice surprise. If you live near enough to one of these planned celebration sites, are you going try to get a ticket and check out the party?
